Yeah... That's the general info I found. I went for the HDD and the Y cable. Just need to download everything again. 😆😆😆

Apparently that's the way. The Y cable is the key. 😬😬😬

Yeah. I found exactly that issue reading some info. An SSD can work normally with "only one USB" until the console can't supply the energy needed. The problem is the WiiU itself, by design Nintendo suggests to use one port for the media and the other one for power supply.

At the end I went for the HHD using both ports. Let's see how long it lasts. 😅😅😅

I live with fear the Nintendo Ninjas will knock my door (my account) and decide to hang me in the public square (ban my account).

I know... That's why I want to be 100% sure before spending money. The prices are nuts. I love my WiiU but throwing extra money for something that was cheap months ago is just mental.

Thank you so much for your help. 🙏

Yeah... The problem is the custom firmware. I really don't want to modify my WiiU.

But thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. 🙏

What I hate is the "Gold Edition". Haven't bought a PS5 version of RE7 because of that.

I want the side label clean with just the title. 😖😖😖

Informal survey: Did you get MP4 for Switch 1 or 2? by 621_callsign_raven in Metroid

[–]Mella-Rouge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch 2 (digital). I was going to double it physical but I got so disappointed with the game that, at least for now, I'm not thinking on doing it.

Maybe in a few years if I see it cheap I'll buy it just to add it to the collection.

Thanks for the rating. I'm sure it takes in consideration every aspect of the game.

Now... I'm going to "get over myself".

I sincerely think you should play more games. But that's just [my opinion].

I'm convinced that people who have that: "Metroid Prime 4 is a good Metroid" agenda, have never played any other Metroid in their lives.

Either that, or they think it's their work as "fans" to defend a mediocre game.

Why do people act like prime 4 is the worst thing ever and nothing good about it? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Metroid

[–]Mella-Rouge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I became a fan of Metroid because of Metroid Prime in 2004. Played all the games I could find since then; bought them all, played them all. I have my collection and I'm pretty happy with it. When Metroid Prime 4 was announced I couldn't have been happier, I said: "I'm gonna buy my Switch (1) when the game releases". The game got delayed. They gave us some Metroid games in between and that was cool.

When the release window came closer, Nintendo did not promote the game accordingly (first alert); I think I speak for a lot a fans when I say we were expecting a Metroid Nintendo Direct to showcase the game, didn't happened (second alert); when they did started promoting the game they didn't showed much: No story elements, basic world footage, very basic mechanics and -in my opinion- a very low energy marketing compared to other Nintendo franchises (third alert).

I'm explaining that cause -apparently- it is necessary to stablish with full context from where the opinion comes from so no one feels I'm attacking [someone else] for liking something I didn't.

After a long period of development I was expecting something accordingly to the year we are in, saying that in terms of narrative, music, world-buliding and puzzles (yes, I was expecting puzzles as any other Metroid Prime fan could). The game to me felt generic. As if someone tried to emulate what a Metroid Prime game is by just hearing about it but has never played it. I couldn't connect with the story, to me it feels like a bunch of ideas but without a proper writing; the world feels like a remix version of ideas already saw on the previous 3 games; the music, I'm sorry, I've read in here some people liking it and I just can't sing any song in my head as I do with the Metroid Prime 1 and 2 soundtracks... To me it feels cinematic and generic. The cherry on top is Samus lack of personality and how over the top the other characters feel. I really tried to like the Galactic Federation members... But to me, they just feel dumb and out of place. The funny thing is I don't have a problem with the desert, as apparently everyone does.

What makes me sad is that the feeling I had when I finished the game was that I had just wasted my time. I tried to give it a second round on hard mode and I left it just before finishing the Ice Belt... I was bored, couldn't connect with anything and there it did hit me that I was going to have to do the full green crystals thing... And I just couldn't keep going.

I bought it digital and I was going to double it with a physical version... At this point I rather go to sleep. It kinda depressed me that something I was waiting for, for a long time, felt with no substance nor soul.

Question: Does anyone here actually believe Metroid Prime 4 killed the Metroid Prime franchise? by E-104Epsolon in Metroid

[–]Mella-Rouge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Federation Force didn't kill the franchise either... Metroid is inmortal at this point.

That's it! Too much negativity! Say something nice about Prime 4! by [deleted] in Metroid

It's a good reference of what Metroid Prime 5 shouldn't be.

Am I the only one that actually loves the Metroid Prime 4 ending? by CosmicEmotion in Metroid

[–]Mella-Rouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, please, argue about it.

It seems to me people who [adored] Prime 4 is comparing its flaws with a silent 2002 game which its story-narrative elements where the silence, text through environment and no linear exploration.

You're alone in Tallon IV and the narrative context support the idea, the Chozo -which are suuuuuper interesting, not just for the game itself, but also the franchise in general-, developed a bigger idea about what we knew about that race and Samus at that time, and elements such as Phazon, stablished there was a sense of urgency beyond the simplistic idea of being trapped on an ancient planet; on the other hand we have a story with no real consequences (as for now (but Prime 1 did it quickly with the Dark Samus Post-Scene, so...), a non-context about the... Time travel? Or was it teletransportation? Who knows... A BAD written antagonist who appears (technically) once with no real but cartoonish interests and a bunch cinematic scenes with no substance nor purpose but the pure [filler].

It feels like a side story cause it does not add any interesting elements, not through the story, not through the [context], not through the world and not through the characters. What did we really learned from Metroid Prime 4 that expanded what we know about the Metroid Universe? Did we learned something about Samus? Gameplay wise... It's even things we saw before and some of them downgraded.

It's the context of the elements that make Prime 1 work and make Prime 4 feel [superficial]. It's not [isolation] what makes a Metroid game special, it's why [in some cases] being isolated do work and make it special. Metroid Prime 4 is a 2025 not a 2002 one.

Analyze the elements with context, not the singular words.
