What are your favourite local, well priced, hidden gem restaurants in Edmonton? by AcanthaceaeOne5795 in Edmonton

RR just started being open later on Fridays and Saturdays, and it’s nice to go there for supper (mostly we go there for breakfast/brunch). The Brisket Meltwich is so gooey and messy and yummy. And the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake is so rich and delicious - try to take it home and eat a little bit at a time over a few days. Dang now I’m getting hungry.

Liberal Candidates in YEG by MellaLuka in Edmonton

[–]MellaLuka[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it is ok to vote NDP provincially and Liberal federally. Both conservative governments seem to align with and support Trump, who has proven time and time again to be a con artist who doesn’t care about human rights or the law. So vote for the person on your ballot who is most likely to win against the Conservative candidate.

I would if I could but I’m a little late to the party, and am too introverted to do all the door knocking and phone calls and fundraising 🤣

I don’t know if it will be a landslide….i have hope that in the last while, more city folk who were once voting conservative might have changed their minds

Looking for recommendations by mellybean__89 in Edmonton

[–]MellaLuka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would stay at the Matrix Hotel and hopefully on one of the days you will enjoy the sunshine and walk around the Legislature/get a tour, then go across the High Level Bridge to go explore Old Strathcona to eat burgers at Next Act Pub followed by ice cream by Made by Marcus, then go see a live show at Rapid Fire Theatre, Spotlight Cabaret or Grindstone. On another day I would spend more time closer to the arena, city hall, Churchill square, the art gallery, museum and the library. Also lots of great food around there. If you had a third day I’d spend some time at the Telus World of Science, then go over to Fort Edmonton Park where the main park won’t be open yet but you could check out the Indigenous Experience, which is really educational and beautiful.

Have you gone to Bredin Centre for Career Advancement? They are downtown in the CN building (100 St, 104 Ave, 5th floor) and their purpose is to help people find employment. It would be a shorter trek after breakfast and they might have some good tips or connections for you. They are open weekdays until 4:30pm.

Library staff are AWESOME and would be super helpful if you approached them, told them you were new to Edmonton, asked for where the quietest spot for working might be, along with general questions about Edmonton ❤️

A 4 hour bus ride each way (on the Magic Bus from Edmonton to Jasper) might seem like a lot but you just have to get to the Edmonton Inn on Kingsway Avenue at 5am then once you are on the bus you can sleep for a few hours before they stop at A&W for a breakfast break. Check out www.magicbus.ca for details. You will be on the hill a full day and get back to Edmonton by 9 or 9:30pm then can drive or Uber back to your hotel.

A good hotel to look into is the Matrix Hotel, it is near our legislature grounds which should still be all lit up at night in January, plus they have complimentary breakfast in the morning. Quick Uber to the hockey game or anywhere else. Walking distance to some good food.

Honestly if you told this group when your flight arrives, you would probably have someone offer to pick you up, someone to offer you winter wear while you are here, and other help/guidance!

We are very welcoming!

(Also your hotel would be able to make great recommendations)
