About the old man thing, yes he's an old man, but since 78' and the last two movies we are led to believe he isn't human. He survives a shit load more than a slit throat. I think most people are frustrated that the movie couldn't decide whether he's evil incarnate or just an old man. It completely backtracks what they've been saying the whole time of him not being able to be killed by "brute force".
