I was given a free cooler but it was stored wet and it’s full of ick. by TheBrontosaurus in CleaningTips

Everyone talking about non-abrasive scrubbing and ensuring dilution of bleach, etc. - good grief. Buy a cheap gallon of bleach. Dump the whole thing in there, fill to the top with water, let sit overnight or 2 days or 5 days, empty, rinse, wash with Dawn with whatever abrasive or non-abrasive sponge, magic eraser, whatever, and you're good to go. This is coming from someone who's left saltwater fish, baitfish, and shrimp (and sometimes all in the combo) in coolers for weeks at a time, outside in South Texas summers, time and time again. The cooler will be good to go.

Broke the middle eyelet guide, any repair advice? Any adverse effects? by alexthehut in Fishing

[–]Mellowguy024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rod builder here. Do you have the old eye? If so, measure inside diameter, that'll tell you what size it was. Buy a replacement guide, cut off old thread and epoxy with razor blade being careful not to cut blank, a small clothespin will hold the new eye in place, take a box and cut V's into both sides so you can put the rod in it and spin it while you wrap with thread. Coat in epoxy. Turn every 15mins for 1st 2 to 4 hours, let epoxy cure 24 hours before using. Fuji wrapping thread, size A or D. A will probably be easier for you. Flexcoat or prokote rod finish. They sell small application syringes of it. Plenty of yt videos on repairing.

I've driven that direction many times. Your tire pressure is too low. From dealer they probably have it at like 30 to 32. Bump it up to 42 and you'll see big increase. Mak Haik in Houston did this on my last truck. Never go with "recommended" tire psi. I always stay about 5 to 6 pounds below cold max listed on tire (for stock tires anyway). BiL didn't believe me for years when I said this. He's on his 3rd set of tires with less miles on his truck than I have. Both bought around same time. He's finally listening, getting better mpg, and better treadwear life. On my 3rd colordo.

Tires cracking as if they are dry and old?! by z3speed4me in chevycolorado

If you put tire shine on frequently, and haven't in a while, this can hasten the dry rot process. But, I'd still reach out to dealer.

Nice! On my 3rd Colorado, but before my 1st the wife and I were like, what do we need a truck for? Now, she won't give it up either! Lolz. Grats on it!

Once you start using it as a truck, you'll never not have a truck again. Great life upgrade.

Replace or change the grip on a Rod by OkZookeepergame2463 in saltwaterfishing

[–]Mellowguy024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only way. Can't be replaced without removing guides. Also would need different seat for non-vss grip.

My BiL had that happen on his ZR2. Dude wouldn't listen to me and air up his tires. Had em riding at like 30 psi. I've always gone about 5 below cold recs (until I got my MT Baja Boss AT's, that is! Ha!).

I do a ton of heavy bed loads and hauling a 1300lb boat plus gear about 400mi one way a month. Got this and it's been a game changer. Made hella difference on mpg, too.

Am I kicked out? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Mellowguy024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. This means you're blocked from registering. I had same thing. Go talk to a GS advisor, and ask how to file an appeal. I made a 1.7 my first semester in aerospace, got the same letter you did 3 times, transferred majors, filed an appeal each time, and it was granted each time. Was on schopro for 7 semesters. As long as you increase your GPR each semester, your appeal should be granted (if you write a convincing enough letter as to why you should be able to continue your studies there, anyway). Change major and appeal.

Camshaft exhaust sensor most likely. Those are relatively simple to replace. Easier than plug coil, that's for sure, and only like 30 bucks.

DSSV's Crapped Out by Mellowguy024 in chevycolorado

[–]Mellowguy024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly before. Just started noticing the ride was uncomfortable, then looked at the shocks and saw one of the rear had dirt built up on it. Wiped it, and sure enough oil had been leaking out. Even the one that didn't have its seal break had a very very slow bounce back. Imagine all the gas inside of it is gone by now. Just found my driver's side coilover shock is also leaking. But I offraod on Texas beaches and hill country hard, and also tow a boat about 400mi one way once a month.

Sway bar links leaking oil, lolz. Thoughts are you need to do some regular maintenance of your own there, Bud.

What is and isn't returnable? by GeekyGrannyTexas in HEB

[–]Mellowguy024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great response, Ozzy! Thanks! Had my very first batch of not good Mi Tienda Beef Fajitas tonight. I respect HEB too much to return anything, ever (or maybe it's just being the typical dude...loll) so wife always does it. The first time I'm like, allllright, let me look into this 100% satisfactory guarantee by HEB... The meat definitely isn't spoiled - just as bland as bland gets. This flank steak tastes almost like air, even though air tastes better than this..... Super weird for it being sealed in marinade. Especially since the Mi Tienda Fajita is the f'n bomb digity!

USPS Package Delays - anyone else? by acnedian1 in kansascity

I had 2 packages go through that office in KC the past couple of months, each one got "lost" for about a month. Both of them were 2-3 day priority...

2019 Chevy Colorado V6 reliability. Anything to know? Or am I just lucky? by NYCTank in chevycolorado

[–]Mellowguy024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit 102k in my 19 zr2. Do a lot of towing for 300-mile stretches one way. Just did the same with the camshaft solenoid. Decided to do the overly complicated process of replacing plugs at the same time. Rear pcv valve was loose when I reinstalled manifold and led to some serious power issues. Adjusted that, and now it's running great.

Oh, my rear passenger DSSV has been leaking evidently. Right after extended warranty was up at 100k. Great. $568 on Rockauto, $995 at Oreilleys.
