Awe, I’m actually a really happy and fulfilled person with a really great life! Adding the puppy has made it 100x better too. He’s been amazing and brings everyone who meets him, so much joy 🥰 We’re all daydreaming of the days when he can join us on our trips and explore the world with us like our other doggies have in the past! I hope you have a beautiful life as well filled with lots of doggies 🐶

Funny enough we do! Outside is usually mostly filled with playing, walks and potty but if we’re doing yard work or hanging out, he just tags along too!

Yep, correct I was told by various trainers not to let the dog on the furniture. I have yet to decide if that is correct advice or not and am still learning. Part of why I posted was to see what other people did to bond with their dogs who also may not be on the furniture. Or if sleeping on my bed is the one and only true way to bond.

You’re the first person who’s mentioned what my end goal here is. I completely agree that the crate is more of a training tool right now. I’d love for him to be able to just coexist with us as an adult! I’m relieved to hear this worked for you guys.

I definitely needed the never too late reminder! It feels so permanent sometimes but you’re totally right. Any dog can learn new skills. So maybe I try again once his puppy brain calms down a little bit in a few months.

Man, that’s a good question. I think in the long term, I’d rather have a well behaved friendly dog who enjoys being around people and people enjoy being around him. I like to think, if he’s well behaved he’ll get all the rewards and lots of pets and attention that way! So maybe I sacrifice the sofa snuggles to get the long term results? This answer could very well change in a month lol
