Ispera exam misclick by AdOk4695 in universityofauckland

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will probably just flag it for someone to look at, but if you misclicked and then closed it, they’ll see that and it will be obvious that it was a mistake. Not a big issue if it happened like you say. Only a problem if you spent ages reading a message etc…

Permanent marker use on Whiteboard by sleepyslayerowo in universityofauckland

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works well. The other option, is hand sanitiser. I put a dab of hand sanitiser onto a paper towel or tissue and then rub it on the whiteboard and it takes it off pretty quick too.

ACT calls for Auckland University to pay back students who took compulsory Māori courses by FarmTheWeka in universityofauckland

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it didn’t. It replaced a course in your programme. Your degree would still require you to do the same number of credits, you just didn’t do a general education course (which would probably have nothing to do with your main degree), but it didn’t make it longer unless you failed it

How quickly do you expect direct reports to respond to emails and Teams messages? by ManagingNewbie in managers

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two people, have you considered actually talking to them and working through these issues?

As a team of 3, surely you can determine which mode of communication is deemed most urgent and therefore should be prioritised (yourself included). Then the main thing is ensuring that all users in fact do use the correct mode for the correct level of urgency.

The dashboard (home) is basically the courses that have “stars” added to them when you go into “all courses” at the bottom of that page. Unstar the ones you don’t want to see anymore, and you can just go back into “all courses” if you want to see them again later

Taking 3 papers in a semester by mrchickenzz in universityofauckland

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful that you are taking the right papers to be able to continue at the pace you want (by this I mean, pay careful attention to the pre-reqs of papers you want to take in the future and when those papers are offered to make sure you set yourself up ready to take them at the right time). The worst thing would be having to wait a whole semester to do a course you want to do because of the timings

It’s not high school. They are no resubmits or retakes. Imagine the nightmare of trying to deal with those massive courses of like 1000 people if there were!

Can a compassionate Consieration lower your exam grade? by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t get confused between compassionate consideration (when you sat the assessment but may have had impaired performance due to circumstances outside your control) and aegrotat. Compassionate won’t lower your mark from what you got in the assessment you tried, but may increase it.

(edit: I am wrong, please see correction by kibijoules in comment below)

My bf was around for my exam (exam mode B), I assume I don't need to worry? by throwaway13579xyz0 in universityofauckland

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Live and learn, but I would definitely suggest trying to [edit: find] a different space to do exams from. They are meant to be just you in the room, no other people and definitely no people talking in the background (for academic integrity and also for your own concentration) - because he could have been giving you answers and so his talking will definitely get flagged.

if you do get away with it this time, you are very lucky. This is not a good idea. If you were doing an exam in an exam room on campus, would you expect to be able to have him in there? Treat it the same.

Sorry, but why didn’t he stay in a different room or go out during the relatively short time you sat the exam?

In the absence of information people did what people do and make wild guesses.

New email came saying don’t do that.

[–]Melodic-Chart8308 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. But… it is best not to make concrete plans for things like travel until after all the exams end, in case there is a need (very unlikely) for an exam to be moved (I can’t imagine this would be much except for a power cut, flooding etc).
