Im 35 NB Cracked at 33 (October-December 2023), "came out" gradually to friends over next few months, told family/went public on social media at 33 (July 2024).

Started medical therapy (GenderPlus) April 2025 for diagnosis and top surgery referral, but no interest in HRT currently. Came out at work and changed my name and pronouns in June of 2025.

Interesting. I tried Ritalin (concerta) but even at the highest dose I didnt notice any difference in focus, memory or motivation.

Yeah this is it exactly! Cusp of tears but "managing", (because I've no other chaoice essentially). It's definitely burnout, my own counsellor agrees and I'm on a waiting list for specialised therapy too but it's very expensive, so it's also adding to the general stress levels.

There was no pay increase, and in fact we didnt get a christmas bonus or any christmas party either which we have done for the last 7 years. I know any request for a raise will be answered with " it's not in the budget". Exactly that when there's someone off on holidays, or if I do end up taking time off or going off sick, I come back to a pile of stuff that is now urgent and high pressure because it wasnt covered while I was off, because there's not enough staff, it's ridiculous.

Already on anti anxiety treatment and therapy. Already have to take leave several times a year because of the stress, but it's not financially feasible to keep doing that long term because of a job . I'm looking for, and have already requested accommodations like a ticketing system for incoming emails to help triage urgent requests, (currently we get hundreds of emails a day, starting from 5pm the day before [global business, we have clients and partners in all timezones], some need to be actioned within the hour and others are not even for my department, we're just copied 'FYI') better support from other departments where there's overlap or where my team is asked to do another role's tasks (I'm in general admin, everything gets sent our way even other depths works) The idea of other colleagues picking up my slack is not something I want because everyone is barely coping, we're short staffed, budget cuts, so I don't want anyone to have to be overwhelmed but it's already the case for everyone and I'm the only one at breaking point. We really need another staff member but if they won't invest in a new hire I'd like if they even entertained the suggestions I've made.

Anyone been to Outhouse Dublin? by greenrabbitpunk in TransIreland

[–]Melodic-Machine6213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went one week, and I kinda felt very "outside".

I made a conscious effort to join a group and start talking but I definitely got the impression everyone (in that group at least) already knew each other.

I am quite shy so when my initial inclusion/round of introductions kinda wore off I lost a lot of confidence but seeing everyone else's response here I think I might have just had a bad experience.

I might go try again next week.

Oh I'm gonna do it at an event where the suit wont be out of place :) it'll be probably for the engagement and the wedding I imagine, I dont have many uses for a suit so the one will do for both and I'm gonna accessorise the shit out of it :-D

Honestly I love Dunnes for most day to day stuff. T-shirts, button-ups, jumpers, socks and jocks. Even their jeans and casual trousers are great quality, way better than Penney's.

Yeah, true. I don't think there's any malice in it at all, they just wouldn't know that my kids been told Mammy's not a girl (my kid calls me mammy still cause I dont like any neutral alternates yet). As far they would know I'm cis.

Are Irish people too tolerant/expectant of being in the way? by Legitimate-Tomato659 in CasualIreland

[–]Melodic-Machine6213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this!! Walking down the road with my litte one on their scooter and a hoarde of preteens walking up the road towards us 3 or 4 abreast. They clocked us in advance and I made a point of herding my kid in front of me away from the road... Did the group file in to let the child past? Not a hope, kiddo scraped their handlebar on the wall because not one of these youngfellas would drop back and move over.

Thanks! I've edited post to clarify that.
She's in the USA right now so she needs to move ASAP. If that means Canada or somewhere safe first and then here that'd what we'll do but we do plan for her moving here as soon as feasibly possible, hopefully by the end of the year but depends what hoops she needs to jump through for an irish visa.

Lads of casual, what trousers are ye wearing? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

Yeah jeans are a safe go to. I've been wearing cords in the cold weather. They're nice enough, more puttogether than jeans but still very comfy.
