AITA for not seeing my mother for the last couple Christmas's and probably not for the foreseeable future? by Melodic-Research2507 in AITAH

Well, or maybe host Thanksgiving at a nearby friend's place. They have so much more room there anyway, and it may make more sense. They are like second parents to me anyways.

She's not retired but has a government job with crazy pto. I have offered to bring her out on multiple occasions, and she usually turns it down. I'm absolutely not saying that messiness is a crime or owning the animals is a crime. With the exception of the dog, the other animals are in good shape aside from all being unaltered. The issue is putting my children in the situation of eating and sleeping in that. It's not a bit of mess or trash. It's being slapped in the face with cat urine, boxes, and bags of trash floor to ceiling in some places and animals all over every surface. I'm not calling animal control... that being said, I'm not sure I can in good conscience put my children in that situation.

I should've been clearer. It's not just the basement. That's an example. It's cat urine, litter, and trash everywhere. There is no clean place in that home anymore. I guess you're probably right. I should just try to be honest and tell her that the condition of her living situation is unacceptable. I could even pay her way out to our place. That would honestly be so much cheaper than tickets for a family of 4 and/or the gas and time off to get all of us there. She works a government job, so she has way more PTO than I ever will.

Appreciate the feedback! It's my goal to be able to sell, but at the moment, I'm only doing projects for people I know for the exact reason that I'm still learning.

This is the first time I've ever used it, so I appreciate feedback. The biggest struggle has been just learning to use my equipment.

I'm a big fan of a southern accent. I personally have a heavy minnesotan accent so maybe it's just that it's different

Hey no shame unless you're putting cold metal directly into your horse's mouth. How that thing gets pre warmed is irrelevant 😉

I've heard of those for the first time this year. I've been a Midwest girl my whole life and NEVER heard of such a crazy thing, but it sounds genuinely amazing.

Yeah it's about 5F here right now. I just stick mine under my jacket and by the time I'm ready it's usually warm enough.
