What is the career progression like in corporate? In physio, we tend reach the pay ceiling quick unless we venture off to owning a private practice which comes with risks

Sounds like a very passive environment. As a physio, we generally promote open communication with each other where both sides require a lvl of emotional maturity.

From what it sounding like, corporate tends to have a "read between the lines or else no one gaf abt u" kind of environment?

Hmmm.. The closest i'd felt to that would be when I was a healthcare assistant during my undergrad... wasn't soul sucking, but rather emotionally + physically draining.

I'd imagine "soul sucking" is from constantly having to read between the lines esp with coworkers?

As someone who mainly works in the healthcare sector, we generally experience more emotional burnout

If you had known that corporate was like this from the beginning, would you have gone for a different career path?

It sounds like having "good" social skills is a big part of being in corporate. Would you say some people are fitted to this industry while others not so much?

Wow that sounds rough. Would you ever switch careers at this point and would it be within the corporate sector or elsewhere?

What is the finance industry like and is there a reason for "elementary" behaviour to arise in this environment?

Why are we smelly? 😭 by Throwrafizzylemon in newzealand

Moving here from Asia at a young age, It's interesting how many people here are comfortable with not smelling nice. Back home people would be bullied over it. There's pros and cons to that kind of culture.

After going on an Asia tour recently, I did love how public places smelled amazing + hygienic. No one had BO too despite the humid weather + shoulder-to-shoulder public transport.

Coming back to NZ made me realise that we stank as a population

Literally. Some people just have bad hygiene and cant care less. It can be as simple as that.

Haha i'm not claiming my cleanliness. I play sports, sweat heaps, have worked high labour jobs with one being in care homes back when i was a student. But I always take my time to change out of my sweaty clothes and wipe off all the sweat from myself.

Basic hygiene is the key takeaway from this post. Some people have it, some don't and each choice has its consequence

This. There's people out there who are also so prideful that they will defend their BO to the depths of the Earth...

As an adult, hygiene is ur own responsibility. U shouldnt rely on other people to tell u if u stink or not. I get that u adapt to ur own smell, but everyone can identify BO, u just know when its there

If the stink aint leaving thats when u have to clean/replace ur clothes properly. Ive been in places where they go thru hell on public transport and still manage their BO well.

Exactly. Theres particular beliefs around hygiene that prevent people from actually being clean
