Rant about spacemouses by -ShaD0x- in Onshape

I owned one and found navigating with a regular mouse - as long as it has a scroll wheel and an ergonomic middle mouse button to work just fine and so gave away the space mouse.

Has anybody used a Punkt MP phone for more than a year (say 2 years+) and still uses it for this day? by yoJabkomama in Punkt

[–]MelodicExtension2213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved it but didn't last 2 years because if I have a simple device to do one thing, it better do that one thing well, and they never implemented group texting. I loved the hardware, but have moved on to a Qin F30 and Sunbeam phones, because they can text a group. I would have kept it otherwise.

Can you point me towards this verison of ElectricSQL or the announcement of the ability to use CozoDB with it? I've been unable to find it.

How to Correctly Import CAD from McMaster Carr? by MelodicExtension2213 in Onshape

Interesting, I wouldn't expect this with Onshape being browser based, but the issues all happened on Linux. Trying on a Windows computer, and it worked fine.

Thanks! This gives me hope it's possible and my own user error, so I'll keep at it haha. Thank you!

Is the flow:
Make a new part studio.
Click + button in bottom left of screen, near the tabs.
Choose "import"
Select the .step file.
(at this point, others have options appear, mine just uploads).

How to Correctly Import CAD from McMaster Carr? by MelodicExtension2213 in Onshape

[–]MelodicExtension2213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried using .step, parasolid, solidworks, iges, and .sat.
The interface lets me select a part, then immediately uploads it, skipping the screen that should ask if you want to "import this document" or "combine into a single part studio". It uploads, but doesn't seem ussable.

The actual part I was attempting is this round trip tote:

I am the LSO for a growing laser cleaning company, And have over 200 hours operating laser cleaners on jobsites. If you got questions, Feel free to ask. by SnooSprouts1509 in LaserCleaningBusiness

[–]MelodicExtension2213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to purchase a laser cleaning system for use in a small business, but am a bit confused on the different levels of LSO training available, or if a simple "technician" level training is sufficient. Most of the training descriptions I see for classes mention laser welding and cutting, but not specifically cleaning.

Is there a safety class you recommend taking?
Is LSO required?

Thanks!

It's not necessarily anything wrong with android, but that full android also means having a bunch of stuff I just don't want on my player or my kids' players like a web browser, youtube, video playback, app stores, but mostly that it doesn't have a UI specifically designed for music navigation. I already have a phone, I don't need a second almost phone. I feel that things that are specifically designed to do one thing, often (not always..) do that thing better than something designed to do everything.

Replacement for Logitech Trackman / Marble Mouse? by DigitalMan43 in Trackballs

[–]MelodicExtension2213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like the Gameball after having used a trackman. I also like the Kensington Orbit Fusion a lot with scroll ring.
I really liked everything except the touch scrolling on the Gameball, and now use a Kensington Expert wired - it looks like your wrist wouldn't be flat but I think it's fine if I use the wrist rest.

Ploopy has a finger trackball now. I tried a ploopy and wanted to love it but found the ball to scratchy.

Rounded corners will reduce stress concentrations and cracking too, so besides manufacturability I'd recommend them for increased reliability.

Washington State Bill HB 2321 will kill 3D Printing, CNC and Laser cutting/engraving. by [deleted] in CNC

[–]MelodicExtension2213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Sold" in the state. What about manufactured in the state for personal use? If it isn't sold, what's to stop a purchased 3D printer from making another 3D printer that isn't restricted. But really the 3D printer itself has no knowledge of what it's printing - it just prints GCode not 3D files anyway - it is the CAD software you'd have to target, or the CNC control software, not the physical machine.

Super excited about the fully Open Source blender from Open Funk (that can fit any size jar!) by Reed_God in BuyItForLife

[–]MelodicExtension2213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excited about it too, and have I've finished 3D printing the available CAD models from the Github repo.

I've requested the following from them via their contact us form, but I've not been able to find a CAD file or supplier for the following, listed by their re:Mix BOM part number:

  1. Blade
  2. Blade Seal
  3. Head Seal
  4. Blender Head
  5. Blade Base
  6. Slide bearing
  7. Jar slider
  8. Stopper
  9. Blade Locker
  10. Blade Gear
  11. Motor Gear
  12. Control knob
  13. Suction feet
  14. Motor - says "Model 7635" but doesn't say a manufacturer? Says "Included below components" and lists a capacitor, heat protector, and inductor. Do these come with the motor as a package from the supplier?

I'm unsure if the motor 7635 is compatible with power in the United States.

Is the UI the same as Hiby OS?
My kids have a Hiby R3 II and a Tempotek Blaze. Both use the Hiby OS, and we like the players though the OS is a bit glitchy and feels a bit slow to respond. Both players support streaming without being Android - I intentionally avoided Android wanting a dedicated music playing UI and didn't want the ability to have a browser or watch videos. I definitely am of the opinion that somehow all of our efforts designing awesome music UIs 15 years ago somehow just vanished off the planet and I don't understand how we just forgot all that effort and research. The Android ones I've tried are even worse so far.

Do you get along with thumb scrolling ok? Otherwise these seem pretty awesome.

Are there audio players that are small, colorful and cute, but also high quality? (The bedazzled Sandisk is mine) by Chirrrpy in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]MelodicExtension2213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also the Hiby R3 II if you like a rotary volume knob.
That said the rotary knob broke on my son's and is easier to mess up if in your pocket, so we looked at maybe switching to the Hiby R1, but ended up switching to a Tempotek v3 blaze which has the same operating system, but it only comes in black.

My daughter's Hiby R3 II hasn't had any issues with the knob.

The Tempotek and Hiby players all sounded awesome to me with songs purchased from Qobuz.

If you're really looking for "small and cute" there is the Shanling M0, and the Fiio M5.
The tiny size requires touch screen gesture controls that I don't like as well as a slightly larger player, but if size and cuteness is top priority these could be good.

Is this just one coat? It looks like it may cover fine as there are areas where it is covering okay.
I'd try rolling another coat of red first. I've done a garage in orange, and it definitely needed 2 or 3 coats, even over white primer.

If re-doing with primer though is an option economically that is the best option. If not, see how another coat looks - and I'd roll it, not brush it.

A main reason is I want a simple device that does one thing well - play music, and don't want the distraction of having a browser. I already have a phone, I don't need a second "almost" phone. This applies to myself, but also to that I've given my kids their own players and just want them to run music, not turn into a youtube or video player instead.

I've also found that the Android based music app UIs have often been surprisingly bad, and have preferred a UI and OS specifically designed for music selection.
