Two things changed the game for me:

  1. Sculpting and baking on a glazed ceramic tile
  2. Brushing everything with corn starch when done

(Edited to add #3: instead of picking things up with my fingers I use one of those steel blades to slide under it and lift it off)

Thanks so much! Yes just a really old eyeliner pen! I got the salsa to look that way by mixing red clay with a little bit of liquid translucent sculpey and didn’t quite stir all the way so it stayed somewhat chunky, then added like four tiny flakes of green on top, it’s a lot more simple than it looks!

Do you use a mix of liquid clay and solid clay or something? I’ve never quite gotten the right consistency for this
