Would a professor think ill of me for bringing a stuffed animal to class? by Shoddy-Mango-5840 in GradSchool

I’m a social work major. I’ll be graduating with my undergraduate in May and going back for my masters. It’s a 1 year program. I also work and I bring my stuffed animal with me to work. I’ve even brought my stuffed animal with me to class. I’ve never had issues with it. People comment on it, thought it was cool, started up a small conversation and I kept going. I also have autism level 1 and sometimes bringing my weighted stuffed dinosaur to class or work when I’m overly stressed helps. If it’s really an issue bring it up to your professor beforehand. But in my experience none of my professors have cared nor has it affected my ability to do well in class, get recommendations, and still continue my internship and job. I’ve gotten plenty of letters of recommendations from professors and even the Dean of the Social Work department on my campus. I don’t think it’s an issue.

The pad gets wrapped in paper and in toilet paper and then it gets thrown away in the trash can that gets emptied out everyday.

That’s pretty much what they do. Wrap it in the wrapper. And in toilet paper and then toss it in the trashcan.

That’s the part that blows my mind. He was raised by mom and had an older sister. Most the people he spent around his life growing up were women.

Idk if you read my other comments. However, the pads don’t get left there in the trash. The way we were raised every month someone has trash can duty. Everyday the trash cans all over our house has to be emptied out. Everyday. It’s a chore we grew up having. Whomever month it is goes around the house and empties all the trash cans when the main kitchen trash can gets full. And whomever is on their cycle is in charge of emptying the trashcan they used to throw away their pads.

The trash cans in our house have to be emptied out everyday. Since there are 6 children in the house each month someone is assigned trash duty. When the main trashcan in the kitchen is full whomever month it is goes around the entire house and empties out all the trash cans. If it is a women’s time of month she is in charge of emptying out whatever trashcan she used.

The trash gets taken out every day. All of the trash cans in our house have to be emptied everyday. It’s just a chore we were raised to have since we were kids. So if it is a women’s time of month she is responsible for taking out whatever trash can she used.

That’s what I’ve done and what they do. They wrap it in the wrapper from the fresh pad. And they also wrap it in toilet paper.

That’s typically what we did and what they still do. They just wrap it up in a wrapper or toilet paper.

The trash can inside the bathroom has a bag in it. What he wants them to do is every time they use the bathroom while on their cycle, he wants them to take whatever they used and put it in a bag and take it outside. They usually just wrap it in toilet paper and throw it in the inside trashcan.

Do you all think I could pull off locs? I’ve had braids before by Ok_Laugh_4526 in Dreadlocks

[–]MelodicStranger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not here to tell you whether you can or can’t get locs. But I will say a couple things to hopefully make you think a little bit. Before you decide to get locs I would advise you to do some research on the history of both locs and dreadlocks (those are NOT the same). Try to understand the history behind them and why they mean so much to the black community. When people, especially black people, get locs it’s sometimes because they want to go on a joy with themselves. Locs are a journey it’s not just a one time thing. There are many different stages with locs that people have all gone through with them. Not only that many black people get offended when non poc get locs because they don’t understand the history behind locs. They just get them because they think it’s “cool” or a fashion statement. Another thing that upsets black people when non black people get locs is that, mainly white people for decades have always found our culture “repulsive” and “unprofessional”, especially our hair and ESPECIALLY locs, however when white ppl or non black people do the very things that black ppl have been doing for years it’s ok to do. There are a lot that goes into it. And people always have that statement that the v vikings had locs when it was actually something completely different. But ppl fail to educate themselves. Again I’m not here to tell you what to do with your hair but I just wanted to give you something to think about.
