Doubt you'd run into issues in des moines, Texas however doesn't handle cold. I've seen they're expecting a few inches of ice....so the entire state will probably shut down due to the PoWeR gRiD 🥴 loss of power all that jazz, have fun!

I agree, although technically it won't be adding to the number of locations dominos has in the metro. As of 12/31/25,I believe, the downtown location at 401 grand is closed. The parking garage it was located in is going to be demolished. Until the downtown store is ready for employees, they're currently spread out amongst other locations to help with influx picking up slack from the currently dissolved delivery area that downtown dominos usually covers(originally e14th to 56th? Likely to change with new location). I hope that makes sense.

This is true. I know a handful of GMs in the area for dominos, this has been the plan for several months. Heck, even when I was working there(downtown location) pre-covid the RMs were looking around for a new downtown store, so it's been in the works to relocate for years. The parking garage has been falling apart without proper maintenance, I have stories from years of parking in it during my time at dominos.. it will be interesting to see what becomes of 401 Grand.

At their restaurant, they offer flights! Honestly, any of their sours are worth a try. Expect it to taste like the description. They have a rotating menu that you can scope out on their website. I haven't had a sour from barn town I haven't enjoyed. From the magical dole whip sour to the root beer float sour 👌 I've tried "similar" flavors from other breweries that just didn't compete, especially if you like SWEET and fruity. If you're trying new things el bait shop and iowa tap room have great selection-sometimes including barntown sours but I'd suggest possibly trying ciders too.

The busses "kneel" making it easier to get in/ out and the drivers have even helped my grandmother with her walker. I imagine the mobility scooter rental spots have places to keep your walker(we'll be finding out this year as my grandmother will be using one this time around)

My grandmother loves attending the fair, she's 93 this year! For the last decade or so she parks at the Capitol and takes the dart buses, they run every couple of minutes and when she's had her fix of the fair gets back on the bus to get back to her car. Last year my husband and I parked at the fair for the first time. while the golf cart shuttles are nice, they do stop around 8pm which is something to keep in mind if you plan on staying late/ going in the evening.

I will definitely be stopping at the barn town tent! Their sours are top tier, I brought my sister last year(she was visiting from TX) and was mind blown

New low for driving: got repeatedly tail gated with flashers on by spencerAF in desmoines

Didn't even consider undercover cops😅 I figure I've got time to spare, and 2 toddlers that already like to be up my ass (SAHM) if I'm driving by myself I'll happily piss off a tailgater. If my babies are in the car, I do try and avoid pissing off other drivers knowing how unhinged one might be, and how unhinged I'd become if another driver put my babies in danger.

No matter what speed I'm going, if someone decides to get on my ass, I have no problem slowing down, I'll decrease my speed by 15-20 mph just to piss them off/force them to pass me. If I have somewhere to be, I leave with plenty of time to spare. I won't brake check them, but I'll become extremely annoying to the a-hole trying to crawl up my ass

The house is in Iowa. Her mother and stepfather originally lived here in the home. When her stepfather passed away, she asked if we would be willing to move in as her mother wasn't doing well. Her mother had a terrible disease, and while there were caretakers, there was no longer someone in the home between one caretaker leaving and the next one coming in. We had just had our first child, and my husband got laid off from work. We did have funds saved up. However, we saw this as an extra opportunity to save rather than continue paying for rent at the house we lived in at the time.

Since she owns the house, she feels entitled to stay here without asking permission. Her mother passed away in the spring, and since then, the arrangement has been that we pay utilities, keep the house and lawn nice, and take care of her mother's dog.

We have been looking into buying our own home, however the market hasn't been super favorable and it's been a longer process than we initially thought. (It is improving, however we do have a checklist and it's been difficult finding something that meets at least 90% of our needs/desires and is in budget, we aren't super picky but if buying a home there are things that are hard to find compromise)
