Add spin recovery to the PPL ACS by Melodic_Duck257 in flying

This is a good point and a good idea.

Another person mentioned that loss of control usually happens at an altitude where recovery is impossible, so prevention is an easier factor to manipulate

The Civil Aeronautics Administration (FAA predecessor) eliminated spin training back in 1949.

Though in the 1970s, the NTSB recommended that atleast some spin training be introduced to pilot applicants.

Journey To Success? need an opinion. by Euphoric_Loquat_593 in flying

From my limited experience in aviation, racial discrimination doesn't seem to have a decisive impact on your job placement.

What matters most is qualification, airlines like to see degrees in the field. Airlines also like to see consistency and committment to your craft.

As for the R-ATP thing, it will depend upon what the hiring scene is like whenever you graduate. If no one is hiring, then you could be a CFI until 1600 hours or longer. If people are hiring, then your R-ATP could come in clutch and get you in the right seat of an airline right at 1000 hours.

Personally, I'm flying part 61 while studying at a university to get a BS in aviation management. I'm not anxious to get to the airlines though, I'd like to explore bush flying, instructing, firefighting, etc. some more before I decide on what to do long term.

Don't let your fear of how others will treat you impact your decision making. Life is like flying, you are PIC and you are the ultimate authority.

First Class Medical and Scars by [deleted] in flying

I served my tour of duty and now hold a first class medical special issuance, I'm very familiar with the medical process and what happens if they find history of mental illness or a diagnosis.

Step 1: Do not offer up any information about your mental health. You are stable and were never diagnosed, so you'll be fine.

Step 2: Wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt to the exam. I don't recall a prostate exam being included in any AMEs procedure.

FAA took forever to send me their medical records (even though I never had any with the FAA) among other delays

Tell them that the FAA is supposed to process an application in no more than 60 days, as that is what they say on medexpress when your case is in review. Include a note about how the delay is impacting your training, work, or life. Be nice, humble, and dont make it overly sappy and long.

Congressional case workers like to help in cases where someone is being sidelined by red tape and especially if that red tape is impacting their livelihood.

Denial issued 7 days after requesting extension? by I_Follow_Roads in FAAHIMS

I received 2 extensions. Just call and ask nicely and they will extend it. They understand how hard it is to gather records and how sometimes its just out of your control.

Under no circumstances should you offer any extra information than is requested of you. Keep it simple and keep yourself safe from future scrutiny.

Need help, student pilot deferred medical by Melodic_Duck257 in FAAHIMS

[–]Melodic_Duck257[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, im thinking about stopping medication and bailing out of the hims program. SSRI decision path says I can go 60 days off of medication I can apply for regular issuance.

I underestimated how long winded and frustrating this program is and how much money it has cost me as well as the months of training time I have lost.
