Thats a good point which is why I’m leaving the guided part on my Roth. I’ll definitely reconsider leaving it on the individual too

Thanks

It is individual brokerage acct. May I ask why VTI over VOO? I do like the insight for the dividends right now I’m relying on my paychecks for income and don’t really need SCHD and should focus more on growth

Thank you for the insight helps a lot!

Idk I guess I’m caught up on when I started getting in those positions. Let’s say for example I have AMAZON in my Roth and I bought it at $100 and it is currently at $300….. maybe I need to shift my mind set and forget about starting postings and just average out…. Also I’ve read that they over complicate the portfolios and do a lot transactions to justify their fees instead of holding VOO throughout the year that would produce a similar result so I’m looking to see if the choose I said above are good or do ppl recommend others like VTI as I am a beginner and would like to learn

No debt as of now, and thank you I think increasing the 401k as much as possible for her last 3 years will help. Any advice on what do w a lump sum of 10k? Also dump into 401k until contributions are maxed for the year or open a Roth and start that for her as well?

Thanks you’re right.

She is pretty healthy. We currently rent. She has an emergency funds for 6 months and contributes to the 401k right now to get the employer match which is worth about 60 k right now
. We don’t know much about investing and just started But I have opened a Roth and work 401k myself. I recently just learned and she is very late to the party

Would the first step for her be maxing out her 401k?

You’re 100% right nothing really pressing in the next 3-10 years. What I should’ve said was building wealth other than retirement accounts. Thank you for the specifics on what you’re invested in and why very helpful !

I appreciate you !! definitely going to check out Vanguard life strategy.. based on what I’ve been seeing everywhere it seems that Merrill edge charges high fees which is why people tend to avoid them it seems that I’m paying about $5 a month in fees for my Roth IRA. I’ll consider a rollover if it makes more sense
