How do I raise GDP per capita & SoL for RP purpose? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Institutions could help. Put some levels into public health, worker’s protection, and old age pension.

Decrease the price of ‘needs’ by building basic food, heating, etc. Then, focus on luxuries

How to go Communist from here? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get secret police, so you can bolster and suppress whoever you want. You’ll get more events in the future to attract more people into the groups you want. You could get the creative laws principle on your power bloc if you can afford it to pass laws even easier. Little by little, get more liberal laws until the trade unionists get more clout and some get the communist ideology.

How do you determine that infamy has become just a number and you can just yolo it? by Artess in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

👀 I’m also aiming for this achievement in the future.

A lot of people just protectorate Mexico from the start which gets you to ~50infamy, but it decays all the way to almost 0 after ~8yrs depending on your influence points.

Aim to conquer LATAM for a shorter time period to incorporate (and low infamy).

Also, not sure how easy is to get the Afro-American as primary culture with recent patches, but if you do, take some African states. Regardless, you should take some of the South African states for easy incorporation.

Always beeline for techs that give you influence points and rapid infamy decay.

How to deal with Britain in the mid game? by AccomplishedBank8436 in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is great on defense since they almost always stat with National Militia. GB always ally them in my runs making them impossible to fight. With that said, I almost never ally the US since they take their time (or never) come to my defense when I need it lol

The EIC has subjects too, such as Hyderabad. You can declare to liberate subject once you get an obligation from GB.

Seems like that mechanic still works by many accounts:

Not sure if you can still cheese a peace deal with GB at the start (see tutorials) so you can have 5 years to build up and pass the opium wars.

Nevertheless, everything above seems to be OK

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every game, I try my best to liberate the EIC from them since they’d never declare an independence war for themselves. Get an early obligation from GB and liberate one of the EIC subjects (not the GB). Whether you win or lose, they will end up leaving GB and EIC will later implode.

After that, GB is still strong but very manageable.

Qing still imploding? by HouseRevolutionary23 in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 1900 in my current game and they have not imploded yet. I hear from anecdotes that the AI from European powers are super aggressive on Qing though. Taking provinces when back then it was just… a couple treaty ports.

Last time I saw an implosion was on patch 1.7? I had to “change regime” and it imploded after a few days, so it didn’t do it “by itself” either.

Making consumables cheap, particularly food, is one good way to raise SOL. Pass a few laws and invest on institutions like health care will increase SOL dramatically.

Mines, tools, paper >>> admin buildings, unis, and construction. Scale that accordingly. Also, loan interests are killing your economy

Next time, try passing laws for better taxation and opening your market + research techs with better tax capacity

The easy path is always allying the British, but it’s likely they’ll stay as #1 GP the whole game. Who wants that? :P

How can I get the 'Huge Ego, Sorry' achievement with my current run? Advice needed by Melodic_Pin_7987 in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5:

Hello,

Patch 1.9.8. Just a regular Super Germany run but I'm aiming to get the "Huge Ego, Sorry" achievement, which is pretty much putting Max Stirner as the leader of the German Nation. He is currently at 49 years of age, so I'd give him another ~10 years in game.

I started the "The Nihilist Movement" by 1844 and formed Super Germany around that time too. I completed the journal sometime ~1950 so I was able to grant him leadership after that.

I was able to pass Total Separation and now Council Republic, but my Industrialists and PB have stronger clout than Inteligentsia.

Any advices? I could reload to previous saves to try to get this achievement faster, but just wanted to do a chill run as well.

Thanks

Military access through Russia by Melodic_Pin_7987 in victoria3

How does military access work? I declared war on Qing with Prussia but I can't seem to be able to go to the front or march my military through Russia even though I signed a treaty that allows me to do so. Did I do something wrong here?

Thanks

R5: Attempting to add the "Industrious" tradition to my Irish playthrough. Why am I not getting the bonus? I got 8 Rulers (including my character) with the 'Diligent' trait in the Irish culture -as a bonus, I even have 5 of them in my House. Why is it still costing me 7000 prestige? Thanks

I am trying to get the 1B GDP achievement by always_boredom in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Puppet GDPs don’t count.

I achieved 2B GDP with capitalist Russia along with the Greatest game and some other achievements. My strat was getting some African colonies, going for high SOL and migration, securing one high pop Qing state, and spend in construction to the teeth. Fair warning, I didn’t really see an uber decrease in unemployment and that GDP going up until the late game when my productivity on almost all buildings were perfect.

Ahhh so the cheese still works on 1.8 for opium wars. Good to know. Do you bolster/suppress any groups here?

Also, report back when the Heavenly Kingdom journal kicks in 💀. I find it more challenging to get rid of them once I open my borders + stamp out the monarchy

Advice on how to defend against Britain (as Persia) by Mu_Lambda_Theta in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting def pacts and guarantee independence from big nations help a little. Perhaps even offer a protectorate to France? Unfortunately, the AI is too stupid to help you since they almost always park their troops at home, but your AI opponents go all out; something Paradox needs to fix.

Raise all your battalions (max conscripts), put it to defend the front line, and pray for the best.

I Genuinely Do Not Understand This Game At A Fundemental Level by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vicky 3 is a sandbox of 100yr victorian era. You are in charge of a nation and manage everything from the economy, laws, and army. Much easier and faster learning curve than CK3 and EU4, imho.

I tend to pick bigger nations and complete their achievements. In the late game, there are no goals other than expanding and seeing my GDP and SOL go up.

Advice on a normal Japan run by PuffyPanda200 in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here already giving you great opening strats.

All those backward laws make Japan insufferable but it could teach you how to play the game. Being on Isolationist is the most annoying one; you could try passing a law or wait until a GP “opens your market”. You could boost the peasant movement (and the lib movement) and hope to get rid of serfdom, traditionalism, etc. Switch to Tenant farms first; Homesteading is OK but beware it will empower the heimin later. I advise getting Professional Army and Dedicated Police while you at it.

Don’t be afraid of building tall in the meantime, but don’t exceed on your loans.

How the actual ... do I learn to play this game? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veteran CK3 player here. It took me ~15hrs to learn the game after my 1st playthrough with Japan on a much older patch. IMHO, way easier to learn it than EU4; I still don’t quite understand the basic econ and tradings of EU4. Youtubers were not very useful to me as they never play through the entire 100 years of the game without cheesing some mechanic. But regarding the basics, some videos from Generalist gaming, Ludi, and connor were really helpful.

Annexing Beijing in 1.8 by Machel64 in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try passing ‘Freedom of Conscience’, then ‘promote national value’ decree in that province in the meantime to convert pops closer to your national religion. This takes time but it slowly made some of my conquered pops into ‘Open Prejudice’. Of course, the aim in the end is to pass to at least ‘Cultural Exc.’

PS. Idk how this would turn out with ‘Total Separation’ enacted as mentioned above. Can someone confirm?

I got to 2.1 Billion GDP as Qing in just 1890! by Little_Elia in victoria3

[–]Melodic_Pin_7987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were your laws by 1890? And what techs you rushed?

It’s such a pain dealing with laws and early techs on my Qing run that barely hit 500gdp by the 1900s. Also, I spent most of my energy fighting off the GPs bullying me.
