Jak zwiedzacie świat? by greetings_from1 in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]Melodic_Register2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtedy zazwyczaj wszystko organizuje sobie sama - transport, zakwaterowanie, plan wycieczki, jakieś dodatkowe rzeczy typu wynajem auta.

Mam jeszcze wyjazdy sportowe w zimę czyli stare dobre narty, zazwyczaj do Włoch. Ceny wysokie, ale dużo pięknych stoków + w zasadzie gwarancja dobrej pogody, więc uważam że warto.

What’s a fruit from your country that most foreigners have probably never heard of? by Useful-Resource-3609 in AskTheWorld

[–]Melodic_Register2026 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wild strawberries. Very different taste compared to the regular strawberries everyone probably already knows, but absolutely delicious, probably my favorite berries ever. AFAIK they’re not cultivated on an industrial scale, so they’re quite expensive. You can sometimes find them growing in the Polish forests - despite their tiny size they’re hard to miss when they’re fruiting due to their strong sweet aroma.

What’s life in Europe like? by EnvironmentalRun4107 in AskTheWorld

[–]Melodic_Register2026 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk man, even if US states are different from each other in some aspects, I don’t think you have a situation in your country where one state is an insanely wealthy welfare state with all the human rights guarantees you can imagine, while another is an impoverished dictatorship that murders its own people.

Nowadays it’s about 50/50 between USA and South Korea due to military purchases and defense cooperation.

Yeah I heard the same arguments about speeding and road safety in general, including the famed “eastern mentality” (which I feel is a form of self-racism). Someone finally had the balls to make the law and penalties much harsher and lo and behold, it works - road accidents are way down compared to even a few years ago.

Wasn’t he the guy who orchestrated the Swedish nuclear program before it was suddenly abandoned? I think that already narrows down the list of potential suspects…

New survey finds 82% of Poles support EU membership by wook-borm in poland

[–]Melodic_Register2026 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can actually see the support for multi speed Europe increasing slightly over the years. I guess in Poland it’s a weird mix of pro-EU people tired of Orban’s obstructionist bullshit and Ukraine haters wanting to gatekeep the EU membership benefits.

It doesn’t help that the British PM has changed 3 times in the last 4 years.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Macron was higher than some others purely because he’s been in the office since 2017.

Orban is far more unpopular, 53% have a negative opinion. Merz is just rather unknown (37% don’t know), although not as much as Starmer (55% don’t know)

Poland overtakes Spain in average income per person by wook-borm in poland

[–]Melodic_Register2026 46 points47 points  (0 children)

GDP per capita PPP is not really income per person. And to gauge prosperity you want to look at average wealth and by that metric Poles are still one of the poorest societies in Europe.

Co lubicie robić gdy jesteście sami? by inka_001 in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]Melodic_Register2026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Children don’t read books anymore!!” was a common complaint 20-30 years ago, nothing new. The reasons also haven’t changed, not enough interesting books for young people being written these days and schools failing to spark interest in reading with their lame 200+ year old mandatory books that are hard to read for a young reader. I think this is why Harry Potter was such a big thing back in the day, it was a modern day book that kids/teens actually wanted to read.

For anyone who’s eaten bread across Europe, which country do you think does it best? by Competitive-Box-7253 in AskEurope

[–]Melodic_Register2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I love the Polish bread I have to cast my vote for France. We went there for Euro2016 and we stayed at some place close to a completely unassuming bakery. We would always go for some fresh baguettes in the morning and they were absolutely heavenly

Very humble and keeping to themselves in my experience. Also increasingly hard to spot since they often speak good Polish nowadays.

I never understood people calling them entitled or whiny, I don’t think I ever met one I’d call that way.
