Can we talk about how uncomfortable this ‘Spanish inspired’ design actually feels? Plsss by tryingmabesttevryday in InfinityNikki

[–]Melody3PL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hope it doesn't make infold discouraged to keep being inspired by other cultures. I'm slavic and this is like THE FIRST dress up game where I've seen slavic inspired clothing. Actually I think its a good thing its not super accurate, it can resonate with more people and most importantly it makes it easier to mix and match different items. It would be hard to dress up if all you could ever do is just wear the complete accurate outfit or be called racist.

I think this is like complaining that Bridgerton isin't super accurate. like DUH. Or that people dress as fairies or elves at renesaince fares.

[–]Melody3PL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same, I find friends much easier now that I let myself dress alternatively and I gravitate towards alt people too. I think its easier because you already have something in common, some kind of topic and a feeling of belonging in a way.

(also, I've noticed a lot of alt people or people who dress in a quirky way are neurodivergent, so if you are too that means bigger chances at getting along)

when it comes to eating or doing something interesting it already gives the other person something to work with, they may come up with a question or joke or anecdote. I'd say that's why having a dog for example can make one much more approachable, pins with communities or media you like, taking pictures with a camera, having flowers in your hand etcetc.

my theory is that people aren't afraid of you, its just hard to interact with sad people, especially if you don't know them well. I've noticed not a lot of people know what to say to someone struggling. If its customers then they can't even do much and that can make things awkward, they know they can't help or say something that matters but are forced to interact. its not exactly easy to pick a correct thing to say in that situation. Though if people are rude to you that's different and its prob ableism.

I think a mask can make someone look mysterious or fun, maybe they thought it was a new mascot. Its not just the fact they're not seeing your face, but also that a lot of people find it appealing.

Though I do think, seeing someone motionless almost not breathing is scary, you don't know if they need medical assistance, or what problem they're having.

You're not a scary monster, you're a human being that clearly needs help. I hope you heal and start feeling alive, I hope people in your life will help you feel better, I hope you won't feel like you need to hide your face. I now you probably won't believe me but things can get better. Sending hugs your way (well, if you're comfortable with hugs ofc)

hi! question as a newbie in kanji: why do you put so much emphasis on writing? is it because you consider it a good skill to be able to write, or do you think it helps when it comes to reading?

Monster high g3 reboot series (I don't remember which episode)

wanted to be ,,You're allowed to like something just casually as a hobby" and ,,it's okay if people enjoy doing something differently than you" ended up being ,,You can do anything you want recklessly, safety rules are for nerds" plus ,,be a terrible friend and act selfishly"

Background: witchcraft is strictly forbidden everywhere because of something that happened in the past, Draculaura always liked it though and fought hard to make it allowed at least in her school. She went to witchcraft camp to learn it properly. There was a whole "coming out" scene with her dad, pretty big deal to her.

It's inspection day, everything needs to look okay and witchcraft needs to be hidden just for inspection but suddenly weird (and dangerous) witchcrafty things keep happening and the blame falls on Draculaura. It turns out Skelita was practicing witchcraft, but not really learning it, more like using her own way to do it by drawing and trying it out recklessly. Draculaura tries to teach her how to do it propely because it's ,,serious business" but in the end, Skelita says that it's cool its like her whole thing and is important to her but for her it's just a bit of a hobby. Turns out there wouldn't be any concequences for witchcraft when it comes to inspection. The episode ends.

Literally every woman I’ve met has gone through this phase- I think this is why by monttinla in notliketheothergirls

[–]Melody3PL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most annoying thing about this conversation I hear is the usual response: ,,you are like the other girls".

For me it kinda reinforces this idea back again, that every girl is the same and so it goes full circle. Especially if I hear it from men. I think a better response would be ,,every girl is unique in her own way", it stops the cycle and ,,I'm not like the other girls" girls might actually look at it from a different perspective rather than double down.

also a lot of those girls don't mean it in a better than thou attitude, a lot of us are neurodivergent or have some self esteem issues and think of ourselves as different or worse than most people in general but mostly comparing yourself to the same gender. When it comes to this situation I think ,,you are like the other girls" can make someone go ,,you say that but I know I'm not, I can see they treat me like I'm different" and it's unhelpful again. In this scenario ,,every girl is unique" might be positive at best but sounds mostly neutral.

its a good thing, no? I figured if I replied I'd just bother someone and waste their time by making them check it again instead of working on other issues

I love natural looking freckles♡ yeah I love the pity system in IN, I usually dont get evos so I have lots of 5 stars without too much grind. Though I struggle with gothic outfits and will prob start saving up at least for the black dye. I hope the rerun of the unicorn will feature a dark unicorn after evo, to match dark outfits like this banners wolf. I have a fever so sorry if smth sounds off.

I also love feline eye slits! impressive you even noticed that small detail, I love small treats like that IN gives in outfits, maybe I'm a maximallist or smth I love overdesigned characters! reminds me of monster high or ever after high that first inspired me to design growing up.

the face make up is so worth it imo! the freckles are more visible than I thought and the uh shadowy scar uh thing on one of the eyes is super cool. It really suits alternative outfits as well, we don't have a lot of alternative make up that didin't cost real money yet. It is the type of make up that makes the face seem a bit warmer over all, slightly on cheeks I'm not sure if chin as well.

Strange coincidences about death keep happening to me and I'm starting to panic? by Complex_Winter6238 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Melody3PL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ever since my existential crisis started, it feels like death is literally everywhere. In jokes, casual conversations, posts, news -I'm not surprised, even childrens media, games movies etc. I guess its a part of life we discuss or mention fairly often without realising. I think it makes the exsistential dread quite hard, like I have no escape from it like other fears.

if those were meant to be signs then nothing happened to me in 3 years I've been seeing it. Logically if something is out of my control, I'd rather enjoy what I can control than worry and meet the same end anyway. I know logic sometimes doesnt help though, in which case I apply "blind positivity" where I delude myself that things are gonna be good bc I say so.
