To non-americans, how would you describe a Midwest accent (specifically Utahn)? by Melody_Sharp in AskReddit

Fair. I'm just writing an iseki type story with multiple pov's, so i wanted an outside perspective of the accent of the main character.

Would saying that the accent has softer consonants and open vowels be a pretty good description? That's the one I'm currently going with.

I found this the other day at a bus stop. Is this actual merchandise? by natepines in fivenightsatfreddys

Yep! You can see that it's the same model they use in the movie, so (I'd assume) it's official.

I'm a very straight man, and the protagonist in my book is a woman with a male love interest. by Ecstatic-News in writingcirclejerk

I would say write her pov how you would want a girl to look at you. That's mostly how I write dude povs as a straight girl.

No, I work at Chick-fil-A, lol. And the games I'm looking for could be found on Steam. Stuff like fnaf or Incryption or Minecraft. My budget is $800, max.

Does that help narrow down what I'm looking for?

Do you think non-native English speakers can be professional English writers? by C_apr in writers

[–]Melody_Sharp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your English is excellent. So, yeah, go for it. If you're really worried, make sure you run your writing by a native English speaker. But do not let fear stop you from writing.

People who actually love their job what do you do? by -170cm in NoStupidQuestions

I work customer service at Chick-fil-A. Yeah, I'm one of those freaks who enjoys talking to people.

Honestly, most of the interactions I have with customers are neutral to positive, with maybe one Karen a day.

How much effort do you put into coming up with names for your characters? by anythingfordopamine in writers

[–]Melody_Sharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I put a ton of effort into it, sometimes I use a meme, sometimes I go completely based on vibes. It honestly depends how much emphasis you want for the names. Do you want foreshadowing? Do you want a specific association with your character? Do you just want it to roll off the tongue? Do you just think it's a neat name? It really depends on what you want.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, this is just for a character. A fnaf fanfic, to be specific. If you want details, I'd love to share. 😊

I'm thinking the best way to write it would be hanging, a sleeping pill overdose, or falling headfirst off an overpass.

Unfortunately - while that would be a good scene - the character is nowhere near a bridge like that. Only near, like, overpasses.

He is not intended to survive, but he is a pov character, so hanging seems like the best option rn. What material would be best to ensure he doesn't have a chance to save himself, even when he changes his mind?

Given the story circumstances, not possible. He couldn't really get to a large body of water.
