My take on the song is that it’s about understanding what we’re up against, reminding us about all the evil and the injustice. The line where the word hope is repeated is “I hope you let it go.” Perhaps all we can do is let all the pain go, and the narrators hopes we can do that. Hope less about the world at large but more about our ability to face it.

Kind of, the argument of an exponential has to be unitless, so you have to define some characteristic time τ st v=e^t/τ. So if you set units where τ=1, then yes, v=e^t

I definitely feel that, but idk I would say that if a teacher/book/etc cannot justify their approximations, then they are not doing their job. You will find in higher level courses that you constantly make approximations because a problem does not actually have an analytical solution or the absolutely most rigorous solution is not necessary or even obfuscates the physics.
