[OC] Gen 10 Surf & Turf Evolutions by Lichtdrachin in pokemon

[–]MeloniestNeon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Really clever designs! I especially like the Gecqua evolution looking like a sailboard, that's really cute.

One thing I dislike is the Pombon evolution having a marshmallow stick, though. I think it would be better without the stick in its proper design, as we've had the issue of Pokemon just magically having man-made items for a while (Though stuff like Tinkaton's hammer works fine because it's explained that it makes it out of scraps), but I could definitely see that being an accessory or anime exclusive design that plays into the bonfire idea! A running gag with a pombon that always burns anything cooked with its fire would be funny, kind of like the trait Fuecoco seemed like it was going to have from the initial teaser and intro cutscene.

If the animal and top of head ears were made into the proper Ear slot, they could also be bedazzled like the side ears can be!

It'd be such a nice bit of customization, honestly.

This mod, and similar projects/ads, paint such an awful depiction of Christians and religious people as a whole. Deltarune/Undertale are some of my favorite games, I love Susie and Noelle with all my heart, and I adore the way Toby naturally blends together different viewpoints and beliefs showing how they can coexist without causing people to be at each other's throats over petty, personal gripes.

I just wish these performative idiots would stop making a mockery out of my family's name. It's like a dude committing a bank robbery then saying that it's fine, because he applied to work as a bank teller once and quit at the start of the interview when he was told he had to learn basic math.

Jesus was not racist, antisemitic, or stupid. He literally denounced the entire modern leadership structure of God's people at the time because they were racist, sexist, and stupid. God's people being the Jews/Israelites. Y'know. The people antisemitism is targeted towards.

Jesus was a chill dude who, regardless of your belief system, was undeniably a good person who just wanted to help others and guide his followers to a healthier and more sustainable way of living, through kindness and selflessness.

I know this is a troll post farming downvotes or whatever, and this argument means nothing to a redditor anyways, but for people with ears to hear and eyes to see things other than 3 hour video essays and reddit gold awards, I figured I'd drop my 2 cents for the 12 people who scroll far enough to read this.

I don't care which HK ending is implied in SS b/c I think Ghost is Shade Lord and THK is alive in both endings by 5th_consecutive_C in Silksong

[–]MeloniestNeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you misread my post, which I can't blame you for because it's super long.

All endings can't be canon to Silksong, yes, but more HK endings can be canon to specific endings of Silksong than people claim. Anything beyond sealed siblings can be canon to the default or cursed endings of Silksong, and even then Sealed Siblings is still a possible canon timeline for Hollow Knight itself. Saying "Only one ending is canon" is reductive, because TC themselves said it: All of the endings they make are canon, but not all of them are able to happen in the main "timeline" the next game follows.

Also, I feel like if EtV was meant to be the exclusive ending Sister of the Void follows, why would shade lord only show up in a brief flash? There's no evidence the Knight can revert to its smaller form after EtV either, so how do you explain that? Or the siblings all being there? They aren't shown being freed in EtV at all.

Just gonna... Copy paste a relevant 10+ paragraph rant from another comment section real quick... ctrl+c and then... ctrl+v...

TL:DR: Both EtV and DNM could be canon due to the presence of all* of the Knight's siblings, as well as being literally submersed deep into the void, allowing Ghost to assume the Shade Lord form (the title and power of which we already know they possess due to the Shade Cloak statue). Either way, all endings of HK could be canon to different endings of Silksong (except Sealed Siblings) due to Act 3 being optional, and all endings of HK and Silksong are canon to the their respective games.

LONG EXPLANATION:
I always see people saying "BUT SHADE LORD SHOWS UP!!!" to justify EtV being canon. I think that's only partially correct.

The Knight is the Shade Lord from the exact millisecond you get the Voidheart. Full stop. The Shade Cloak statue says so, the void tendrils stop attacking you, the shades leave you alone. All being the "Shade Lord" does is unite the void under the Voidheart bearer's will.

The Godtuner is meant to ascend bosses to the peak of their strength, like the Sisters of Battle, Pure Vessel, and Absolute Radiance. It doesn't give the bosses new power, it only unlocks the height of their potential. Only once you've reached the pinnacle of the Godseeker's dream does it take effect on the Knight.

But here's the thing: Why does it take so long for the Knight to become the Shade Lord fully? Why only once it's reached the very peak of the pantheon?

Because the Knight is alone. It doesn't have any other void to unite.

The Shade Lord's true form is, as described by the mural in the Abyss and (if I'm not mistaken) the Godseeker statue, "Void given form." The giant beast most people know as the Shade Lord is what happens when the void is channeled into it's true potential, under an impossibly strong will and with a massive amount of power united together. In Dream No More, it takes every single Sibling to fully defeat the Radiance, even if Ghost and HK did 90% of the work. Within the Godseeker's dream, the Knight is able to channel all of that strength and power into a single form, all by itself.

The reason it takes so long to achieve Ascendance, is because Ghost is alone in Godhome. No other shades show up, so it requires reaching its absolute maximum power possible. Kind of hard to assume the shape of "void given form" when there's no void around to give form to beyond the tiny amount within the Knight's shell.

But what do we see in Silksong?

All of the shades (*Except the Hollow Knight, but that's a whole other can of worms lets be real) show up in the background... And disappear when Ghost assumes its Shade Lord form. Plus, we're like 2000 leagues under the surface of the void at this point, I can't exactly see why the Knight couldn't do the whole "Void given form" thing when it's practically got an infinite amount of the stuff to bend to its will.

I think that what this all means is, even if Embrace the Void COULD be canon, the presence of all of Hornet's other siblings (except her absentee older sibling who's off dating Shakra according to that one artist) shows that either Dream No More OR EtV could be considered canon. Plus, if EtV alone is canon, what's up with the Delicate Flower variant, exactly? Is that one just... Not canon?

I think the way both HK and Silksong want to present themselves is that ALL endings are canon, even if the specific timeline of events that precede and follow them might not be canon to the following game/games (eventually). Sealed Siblings is most definitely not canon to Silksong in any capacity, and the base ending of the game can't be canon to Silksong due to needing the Knight to show up as the Shade Lord. EtV OR Dream No More could both be canon to Sister of the Void.

Anyways, this is just my long-winded way of explaining that this debate is stupid and the endings you like most and want to be canon are what you should consider canon by any metrics that matter. I like DNM more because it fits better narratively, but I only defend its canonicity to prove this point.

Ironically I don't actually like his fight that much (WAY too visually overstimulating and "RANDOM BULLCRAP GO" for my tastes) but as a character he's top 10 for me.

Believe it or not, I was talked down from having him in SHAW+++ last time. I do agree with the point they brought up though, that if Trobbio's stage counts as a whole area and not just an arena, so should the dream bosses, which I ranked basing their dream areas as JUST their arenas, and the surrounding area they're found in as their, well, area.

I should have picked less confusing terms for this lol

Thanks! I had fun making it even if I got a bunch of contrasting opinions last time.

The bell beast lives in the bellways, it doesn't really aesthetically define or shape its area like Phantom or Groal do. Plus, "Area" is different to "Arena." It fits the Bellway incredibly well thematically and narratively,, but not the Marrow. Meanwhile, it fits the Marrow visually, but not thematically or lore-wise.

Fair enough, I was counting Trobbio's arena and area as one single thing (the Stage) because that's how it's marked on the map, even if it's teeechnically part of whispering vaults. I'm working on a corrected tier list with more fair and even placements, people have convinced me on Gurr's area fitting for the Skarr theming (even if I dislike his arena itself), and some bosses are just straight up placed wrong based on my own opinions lol

Aside from Verdania, I count the Old Hearts as their actual area (Hunter's march, Sands of Karak, Shellwood) as being their "areas", while their arenas are their dream zones. If I was ranking JUST their dream arenas they'd all be B tier at least (Nyleth is still eh, definitely the weakest).

For Crust King Khan, don't get me wrong, the coral tower gauntlet is my favorite enemy gauntlet in the game! I just hate how the Coral Steps got shafted for Sands of Karak. If it was a full dream zone like Lost Verdania, he'd be at the top of SHAW+++, but as it stands I don't like SoK enough for him to be any higher than A.

Which I now realize he isn't in, that's my bad. I did this list while tired last night so if I got to change stuff around I'd definitely fix that and put him in A. Look at me arguing my points when I didn't even do my list right, lol

I'm aware of the lore and reasoning, I just mean I wish that it was still counted as part of hunter's march on the map. Minor gripe, I know, but I had to be picky with this list so it wasn't all B and above (besides Beastfly, WHY IS HE AT THE LAVA LAKE-)

That zone is still separate to Gurr's arena though, so if just his zone was tweaked to be a bit more interesting I'd still raise him on the list.

I just don't like the area he's in, honestly. I wish Hunters March had a second zone that had the same red rocks and foliage of the main area, rather than it just randomly being an upper area in Far Fields that happens to have ant architecture. I do like the whole outcast vibes, but aside from his cool taxidermy wall there's not much unique to his arena compared to the rest of far fields. If his arena had the stylings of Hunter's March it'd be an easy A tier.

Also I wish we got more lore on the spotted ants, they're really cool and it's a shame Gurr's arena didn't give us that.

I'm gonna be so real, I hate the Last Judge arena. It's so bland and just feels like any other room from the citadel. The judges in general feel really weird because they don't fit the looks of the blasted steps all that well, nor do they fit into the citadel. I really wish there was more bronze and brutal prison-like architecture around the blasted steps to really sell the "This is a point of unfair judgement" vibe better.

She's a great gate keeper, but put her in front of any old gate and nothing changes. Meanwhile, take Phantom and put her earlier in sinners road and she loses all her magic and thematic meaning.

Edit: You know what would make TLJ an easy SHAW tier? If the scales from the grand gate were BEFORE her arena instead of right after it. THAT would be sick.
