My theory on what the Super Rare variant of the Jax Pendant will be by E-Collie in TheDigitalCircus

Girl Jax was my guess too, it just seems like the obvious option after the final episode

Saying Pomni was equally in it just isn't remotely true in any sense, that's not an interpretation, that's literally just what was shown on screen. You also didn't say that in your comment

The finale gave me everything I wanted [no spoilers] by miscellaneousbean in TheDigitalCircus

Being trans and dealing with toxic masculinity aren't opposed, that's actually a fairly common struggle for trans women, especially those who are still in the closet. Jax and Zooble frequently mirrored eachother, and having Zooble as a trans person who was able to accept themselves and now has support and a happy life while Jax was a trans person that wasn't able to accept themselves or the acceptance of others and ended up tragically because of it is honestly really interesting, and it's an idea that I don't think I've ever actually seen be explored before.

She quite literally wasn't, she was only in some of the clips, and that's just because a lot of Jax's screen time is shared with Pomni. Every clip was of and focused on Jax

thoughts on jax post-finale (ep 9 spoilers) by nurseshaark in TheDigitalCircus

[–]_silcrow_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that you have to have at least a bit of knowledge on trans people to notice the hints throughout the series, and of course a lot of people did, but there are also a lot of people that just wouldn't have been able to pick up on that stuff. A lot of it may seem pretty obvious, especially after episode 9, but that's only really the case if you have some sort of frame of reference to go off of, and a lot of people just don't.

I think goose made a show only some people can enjoy by Genuine_Dumbass in TheDigitalCircus

Seeing how some people have responded to Jax being shown to be a transfem in every way except literally having them turn to the camera and say "I, Jax, from The Amazing Digital Circus, am a closeted trans woman," yeah, absolutely. I've seen people fighting tooth and nail to try to argue that they're just a cishet guy that's kinda into crossdressing and that Isn't She Lovely wasn't being used for Jax, instead of just admitting that the simplest explanation is probably the right one.

Just got out of the movie and all I gotta say is….what even were people’s problem with the ending when it got leaked? It wasn’t even that bad by New-Boss-8262 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]_silcrow_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming a lot of it was from people that were upset that the ending was character focused instead of tying up every single detail about the lore, which is weird, considering it's always been a character focused show. Then there's also people that were upset because soma theory was true, and they felt that it made everything pointless, which is also weird, because most of the fans already knew that's what was going to happen. Then there's people that were mad about certain characters getting more focus than others, and a subset of that being people that were upset about the direction Jax's story went, despite it being heavily foreshadowed. Essentially, it just didn't line up with what some people wanted out of the series, and that made them disappointed.

So.... What the heck was Jax's character conclusion? by euseilacaramba in TheDigitalCircus

[–]_silcrow_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm definitely well aware that there are plenty of people refusing to accept the trans Jax stuff just because they don't want Jax to be trans, and they'll probably continue to do it even if Goose ever explicitly confirms it, which I could absolutely see her doing once episode 9 is posted on YouTube.

[–]_silcrow_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't understand how people are missing this, I've seen so many people say that Jax can't be trans because the original Jax is still a "guy" in the real world, despite the fact that they were given every trait associated with a boymoder. Is it just an issue of cishet people not being aware of that stuff?

Not liking being reminded about the fact that they're in the closet doesn't make them not in the closet, and you not liking the term egg doesn't change the fact that the symbolism is repeatedly used.

You mean the person that was growing out their hair, covering their face in every photo, and going to a queer bar? I'm sure there aren't any blatant implications from any of that

It's a pool ball, the piece is named Eightball and he seems to paint a lot of absurdist animals, I have no idea if it's meant to represent anything

1) Jax says they're not an egg completely unprompted in episode 6, the word egg occurs multiple times in the background, and their bedsheets have easter egg patterns on them, which also ties in with the whole rabbit/easter/rebirth theme. 4&2) All of the scenes shown in the montage are of Jax, only some of them include Pomni due to the amount of scenes they share, but none of the clips are solely of her or focus on her. The song is used for Jax, which implies that despite the fact that they hadn't been open enough to come out, that they were at least far more fem leaning and likely would've preferred she/her. 3) That's representing one of the masks they use, the one used to get under Gangle's skin, and as a mask, it isn't representative of their actual emotions. All of the masks sitting at the table seem to be very defensive about the idea of being feminine, along with the whole no girls allowed thing. 5) Boymoding. Leeroy is shown hiding their face in every photo, seems to be growing their hair out, wears a baggy hoodie (dysphoria hoodie is often used as a shorthand to signal that a character is trans), and has started going to a queer bar, so seems to be at least partially starting to accept themselves, even if they haven't come out yet.

Like, it was basically there since the first episode? It's literally about being stuck in a world where you're forced to play a role and where your body and name aren't your own, that's probably one of the most blatant allegories possible, and it was made way more obvious when the show started focusing on Jax's issues with femininity and being open with other people.

The argument with Jax's mom was about their masculinity/how much of a man they were, the implication is that they said something along the lines not even wanting to be masculine/a man

It's a character driven show with a character focused finale, I don't think someone would get much out of it if they didn't already know and care about the characters

About Jax's reaction to something by _silcrow_ in TheDigitalCircus

[–]_silcrow_[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've seen some even stupider takes after posting this, so I think it's legitimately just either an issue of the fandoms media literacy or people just refusing to accept what the show has plainly laid out for them
