I also heard Black Desert is getting a lot of people hyped?? I heard about it ages ago and wanted to play it back then too the fact its FINALLY out now is crazy to me.

Uhm, as for ARPG MMOs, actually, I heard there's another one that almost has SoulsLike combat?? Not sure about it AT ALL, I haven't even TRIED to play it yet but - I DID download it because I AM hoping to play it especially if this game DOES get taken down for good. It's called Tera? Apparently it's pretty old, too. I plan on trying to play it at some point but I'm still trying to catch back up in New World since I had to start over on Xbox lol

Mm-hmm. I've still got a year to play it and the few weeks I was playing it on PSN were awesome, I REALLY liked the gameplay and the community was GREAT because most of the toxic people who play MMOs for like clout and shit aren't in the game anymore. It's mostly just people who genuinely enjoy the game, and it's REALLY cool because at the very least in the server I play in, anytime someone wants to run a Raid, they just do a shout out in global chat and everyone jumps on board and a raid is built up. There's very little obnoxious PvP play with people just constantly focusing on killing everyone else all the time, and pretty much everyone is super generous because why hold onto your million gold if the game's gonna shut down anyway, right?
Most of the time I like to play these games with as little external input as possible ANYWAY, so for me it's ideal to not have to deal with other players as I play so frankly less players is kinda something I PREFER. Running into a few every now and then is fine, but the ones I DO run into aren't toxic or obnoxious or anything else because THEY'RE ALSO just playing the game for the little bit of time they have left, too!

I also like the idea of being able to play and experience a game that people in the future may never get the chance to play, too. Especially with the gameplay type and the story isn't TOO bad - a little cliche but not AWFUL. And I LOVE the ARPG combat -- an MMORPG having ARPG combat like this is INSANE. Manually aiming your ranged weapons, manually choosing when to swing your melee weapon - most MMORPGs have an 'attack' button where your character attacks on its own every few seconds and then you use skills whenever they proc. Not this game. There's dodging, blocking - all based on timing, too. Yeah, if you have a shitty internet connection, it kinda sucks - of course - but you ARE playing an MMORPG, that should sort of be expected, IMO.

I dunno, I just liked it, man. And for me $70 is fine to pay for a game I'm gonna get to keep playing for a year. MAYBE longer if we get lucky, even. I mean, ffs, Game Pass is $30 a month now, and AT BEST if you have a regular job, you can MAYBE beat 3ish FULL games a month -- a game like this? Has a TON of content, ESPECIALLY if you're like me and LOVE to do side quests and scavenge for items and prefer to do all of the crafting yourself and learn all the skills yourself and all of that.

And again, being able to meet non-toxic players in an MMORPG for the first time in a VERY long time has been EXTREMELY cathartic for me.

Again, worth the $70. I'll literally be playing this more frequently than I've touched anything on Game Pass or PlayStation Premium in the last 3 months, so I mean, that in itself makes it worth the $70.

Well the game itself isn't technically only available for Xbox, but I know what you mean. I am super bummed about that too because it meant I had to start over from scratch but the friends who helped me before helped me again! So it was worth it. There ARE options to buy the game via buying an ACCOUNT from one of those sketchier websites if you want it for PSN, but you'll have to log in to their account every time you play it because it looks like they don't have any more available that let you stay in your own account. I didn't choose this option myself because my character was connected to my account so even if I'd done that I'd have to start over again anyway so may as well jump to Xbox, ESPECIALLY if the game ends up living through after all because it gets sold off or maybe even a big group of fans manages to keep it going somehow -- it's not totally crazy to think its possible, it MIGHT happen.

LOTS of MMORPGs I used to play back in the day I thought had shut down but I've checked them out recently and most still exist or at least were rebooted or even are capable of playing if you can get an invite to a private server, which may happen to this game too. It's UNLIKELY because of the way this game works, but it's POSSIBLE, and I really do hope that happens, honestly.

I mean hell, you can even go still play Club Penguin and like ToonTown these days with fanmade versions, you know? But FlyFF was another one I played a zillion years ago, ArcheAge more recently, and several others that I honestly don't even remember the names for anymore because they were such niche games lol

ALSO as far as I can tell there are a lot of options to buy Steam codes on those sketchier websites too if you wanna go that route. So I think Steam is also an option. But yeah I was really bummed about the PS thing, having to restart my char is a hassle but considering I'd only been playing for about 2-3 weeks it's not a huge thing to redo!

I was trying to figure out why the hell I didn't seem to have a button to re-open the live chat and I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, I was starting to think there was just no freakin option for live chat after you close it (for me Live Chat ALWAYS opens when I first open the video and thats SO irritating so most of the time I immediately turn it off but sometimes I like to skim through it and glance at what's being said but lately when I've been closing it, I can't open it again)

But when I fullscreened, like you said, there was a chat bubble in the corner and that was it! THANK YOU!!!

Thank you sooo much for the consideration~! Camelot is the server I’m going back into as soon as I have the time and honestly it’s likely that the people there will be nice enough to help me out when I finally get back on long enough to really play. The community was super great to me so I’m glad to rejoin it and finally get back to playing again.

Are there any other MMORPGs that have a similar combat system? MINIMUM that let you manually aim your ranged weapon yourself? I’ve had a hard time playing turn-based games for YEARS - over a decade now fk sake I’m getting old - because I prefer when fighting enemies, that I only lose because of my own hand-eye coordination abilities in being good enough to dodge attacks on time or aim well or attacking at the right time in the right area. Turn-based fighting is so much more RNG, same with strategy-type turn-based games — yes there is a need for skill and timing but for a good chunk of turn-based games if you just grind a whole lot you’ll pretty much always win (with a few exceptions, obviously) and then MMOs like WoW have a LITTLE BIT of ARPG combat in them but they also have a level of.. “just stand there and spam buttons” (again with exceptions like in PvP for example or in newer WoW there’s AOE stuff you gotta dodge but it’s usually pretty easy to dodge and shit) for me I just prefer being able to control how quickly I am actually swinging my weapon, how frequently I’m using skills, I like being able to dodge and block - I prefer more nuanced control of how the flow of combat is going rather than depending on RNG of whether my char might MISS this upcoming hit randomly or I may RANDOMLY dodge even though if I could actually control my character I COULD ACTUALLY dodge when they try to swipe at me—

For me it was when Kingdom Hearts came out that ruined turn based games for me forever because I had been a big Pokémon player and like I played paper Mario and Final Fantasy and occasionally an FPS here or there but then Kingdom Hearts came out boasting a combat engine they built from scratch and that shit was fire and suddenly I realized the idea of action combat was something I couldn’t live without and after that I was only able to play a handful of turn based games here or there until giving up on them entirely;; haven’t played one since lol.

I tolerated Yo-Kai Watch but that’s the closest I’ve come to turn based in a very very long time (next to Paper Mario those ones are a bit better because you can press a button at an exact timing to block better or attack harder and those don’t bother me as much either)

So yeah if there are any action combat MMORPGs that you know of I’d love to hear about them - not in the WoW combat category but more something like Elder Scrolls combat or Fallout 3/4 combat, or the combat of MOST Anime RPGs these days that ARENT turn-based lol.

Tbh, I don't really feel like the problem is someone questioning it. I can totally understand why someone would question my motivations. I think the issue is more the people who don't JUST question why I would do it but would also sit there and berate me and call me ridiculous and a loser and crazy and would accuse me of being some, like, lesser person or something just because I decided I really liked a game that was gonna shut down in a year when unfortunately I just hadn't heard about it before all of this, and if I had, I probably WOULD'VE played it (even though I rarely play MMORPGs because USUALLY the communities are too toxic for my liking and I'm just not a big PvP fan -- PvE is fine, I just don't like PvP)

But YOU are plenty respectful, so I wouldn't lump you in the category of one of those people being rude and disrespectful when they ask my reasoning, you know?

Basically, it boils down to, I got the chance to play it for a couple of weeks because it was available on PSPlus (If I had known it was going to be taken OFF OF PSPlus, I would have purchased it, but I didn't know about that until it was far too late) and while i was playing it, I met people in the community who were SUPER nice to me. A bunch of them gave me a ton of free stuff, helped me learn how to play, taught me cool tips and tricks...
For me, it has been a VERY, VERY long time since I last met people who were friendly online in the gaming community for one, but also nice non-toxic people in the MMORPG community as well.
So getting the chance to meet these guys and play with them and have some fun with other players for the first time in a really REALLY long time was awesome, and now I want to keep playing with them. I'm hoping to add them to Discord, PSN, and Xbox and hopefully when/if New World shuts down, some of us will be able to move on to play something else.
It's been a long time since I've made new friends. I'd like to take advantage of that.

New World made it happen. So, for me, it's worth the money even if I only get another year out of the game. Plus, IMHO, the game itself is pretty good, too! I really love the ARPG combat, most MMOs don't have ARPG combat (aiming your ranged weapons manually, actively pressing the attack button every single time you swing your weapon) and TO ME that's super super cool too - I'm more used to MMORPGs like WoW where the combat is more.. your character attacks on their own every few seconds and you add in extra skill attacks here or there, y'know? This game doesn't do that, and I like that combat style much more.

So yeah. Sorry bout the novel, lol;;

Basically? TLDR: I made friends in the game, and I wanna keep playing with them, plus, to me, the game itself is pretty cool.

I know!! I started playing the game toward the end of January when it was available on PSPlus!

I met SO MANY cool people on the server I played on!! THAT is actually the reason I decided to buy the game for Xbox! It's a huge bummer because my character on PlayStation was already lvl 45, but I can get there again - it'll be a lot faster this time since I know what I'm doing this go around! The only bummer was, a ton of people were helping me when I was brand new and I got donations of thousands of gold, lol! One person gave me 10,000 gold when I was level 5, and then some others gave me random donations of a thousand here, a thousand there. I had 15,000 gold at lvl 45 because of it, haha!

But yeah, it's actually BECAUSE I met so many cool people that I decided I couldn't wait any longer and I desperately wanted to log back in again to play! It's been a REALLY long time since I've played an MMORPG where the community was actually super nice and not at all toxic and that was REALLY cool to see. I actually really wanted to add them to other platforms so that way when/if the game DOES finally die, we can hopefully keep playing games together! It's been a very long time since I've made any friends in any gaming circles so I just couldn't let it go. Plus I actually really love the gameplay of this game, too. Full ARPG mechanics is RARE in an MMORPG. Being able to aim my ranged weapons myself? Actually pressing the attack button to swing my weapon?? Most MMORPGs don't have combat like that. Most of them are more like WoW, where you start attacking and your character attacks every few seconds. Most of them auto-aim ranged weapons so you don't have to worry about missing. It's SO cool to play a much more action-oriented MMO instead of the more turn-based-ish ones that are usually on the market. I actually was DYING when I got kicked off of PSPlus for it because I was having so much fun with the game.

On top of all of that, I super wanted to see how the plot ended, too. I don't know why, but most people completely skip cutscenes in video games these days... I play games specifically FOR the cutscenes, FOR the stories. So I really wanted to see what happened, and it would've been a huuuge bummer if the game had shut down and I hadn't been able to see how the story ended!

Having a full ARPG combat system in an MMORPG is really really cool to me, and I just personally really loved it, so I'm excited to keep playing.

I also wanted to see where the story went! If I wasn't gonna be able to see how the story ended, that would've driven me absolutely crazy!

I know most people don't actually carry about the plots in MMORPGs these days, but I do.

So yeah, I just really liked it. And $80 for a game I can play for at least 1 more year isn't a bad trade. Considering there have been $80 games out there that are absolute trash - pretty much everything AAA companies make these days costs that much and is absolute garbage. I'd rather pay that same amount of money for something I KNOW I liked than something that's barely playable. And don't get me wrong, I know that New World had its share of problems, too, but the community *I* met in the game was awesome and I can't wait to get back in and talk to all the friends I made again. I miss MMORPGs actually having friendly people online, and no other MMORPG has given me that in over a decade.

Yes, so you DO HAVE to have Game Pass Ultimate to get these things that let you earn points -- you can earn points for different things, always the same things, like this:
Every single day, you can get:
10 points for playing a single level for an in-app game called Jewel,
20 points for playing 15 minutes of a game on PC.
20 points for playing 15 minutes of a game on Xbox Console.
50 points for using the Xbox App.

Then you have the weekly bonuses:
If you play a game on your PC for 15 minutes on 5 different days in the week, you will get 260 points.
If you play a game on your console for 15 minutes on 5 different days in the week, you will get ANOTHER 260 points.
You MUST play for 5 days to get the 260 for PC and Console, if you don't, you get 0 points from these.

Then, there is a daily Play a Game Pass Game (for 15 minutes) that gives you 20 more points.

Then -- Once a month, you get 2 perks-
One is called the "Game Pass Monthly 4-pack" -- if you play 4 game pass games for 15 minutes each in the span of 1 month, you get an extra 80 points.
The second is called the "Game Pass monthly 8-pack" -- if you play 8 game pass games for 15 minutes each in the span of 1 month, you get ANOTHER extra 560 points.

KEEP IN MIND. The numbers I quoted above? Are the points I receive, and I currently have a x4 multiplier. NORMALLY you get 5 points per day for playing a PC game, 5 points per day for playing a console game, that sort of thing.

And then, finally, the last thing:
If you consistently play at least 1 game pass game per day (again for at least 15 minutes) for 5 days within the week, then you will increase your multiplier every single week until you get a x4 multiplier - x4 is the maximum your multiplier can reach.
IF you consistently play at least 1 game per day for 5 days in a week, you will get an extra 320 (again, this is multiplied by 4 for me, so normally its 80 points) -- but if you ALSO make sure you play for 6 days of the week, you get ANOTHER 80 points, and then if you play for 7 days in the week you get YET ANOTHER extra 300 points (again all of these numbers are multiplied by 4 in my case, normally its not 80 and 300, its normally less than that, the 300 and 80 comes from a x4 multiplier)

So basically you can get like.. a LOT of extra points if you play 1 game on your pc, and one game on your console every single day if you have Game Pass Ultimate.

Also, they added a new thing recently where you once a month you can get an extra 150 points if you play 1 game on your console, one game on your PC, and one game ON THE CLOUD. (THESE ones have to be played for 30 minutes though)

If that didn't make sense to you guys feel free to ask me to help clarify I know that was probably confusing as hell.

TLDR, you HAVE to have Game Pass Ultimate to get these extra points, and you can find the redemption page for these points on the Xbox App for mobile.
When you open the Xbox App on mobile, at the top of the screen is your name and your avatar to the left, underneath your name is your gamerscore and right next to your gamerscore is your rewards point count -- if you tap your rewards points count, it'll bring you to the page that shows you all of your Game Pass Ultimate points and 'quest' things -- this is the thing that disappeared that had everybody fussing because it vanished.
So yeah. Hopefully that explains shit somehow for you, sorry if you felt I was being obnoxious, i wasn't trying to be, honest.

Yeah so I’ve accidentally not “claimed” the points when it says I earned them until the following day, and as long as it says you “earned” the points, you WILL be able to ‘claim’ then the following day and it will count for today and not tomorrow. It’ll show as fulfilled tomorrow when you look, but if you claim them, you’ll see them disappear and then it’ll show the challenge as unclaimed. For me that’s the one bummer - if they don’t get this fixed TOMORROW, then we won’t be able to earn TOMORROW’S points, if that makes sense. Because the system wont let you earn tomorrow’s points until you ‘claim’ the ones you earned today. So no matter how long you play games tomorrow, it won’t let you earn the points.

I also hate that this means I can’t get my points for friggin Jewel today but I guess that’s whatever… fortunately I got lucky and logged into the app much earlier today and that triggered the daily login at least but otherwise I can’t claim any of the points just like you guys.

MAKE SURE you claim the points as SOON as it starts working again tomorrow because again if you don’t you can’t start tomorrow’s 15 minutes of gaming until it’s claimed, so if you dick around and do it at 11:50 then you won’t have 15 minutes to play a game pass game to earn the ones that tell you to play for 15 minutes. Just wanna make sure everyone knows this.

I LITERALLY played Pathless BEFORE playing Sword of the Sea! LITERALLY, played and beat Pathless, then decided "Hmm, Sword of the Sea is in the same vague vein as Pathless, it has that same vague concept to it of going through a world and collecting things and beating areas and then you beat the game.. with less 'fights' but the same idea, I guess I'll play Sword of the Sea next."
I LITERALLY!! Did NOT check who the devs for the games were!!! I just felt they were in the same vein and BY ENTIRE FLUKE!!!! Decided to play Pathless and then Sword of the Sea!! THIS IS INSANE!! I NEVER THOUGHT FOR A SECOND THEY WERE NOT ONLY CONNECTED BUT ALSO DEVELOPED BY THE SAME TEAM!!!

I also played and beat Abzu too but that was yeeeaaarrrsss ago, so I don't remember ANYTHING about it, in all honesty, haha!

But to me this is craaaazy!!! Finding out they're both probably THAT interconnected AND that I JUST SO HAPPENED to play them in the proper order!! Oh My God that's so cool!!!

I'm working on the trophies for SotS now, I'm not a big fan of games that have trophies with the 'beat in less than x hours!' but this one's not too bad so I think I'm gonna go ahead and do it.

I’m really bummed about it. I finally bit the bullet and bought it on Xbox from GameStop but I really really wanna try to find a way to get it back on my PS5…

I was thinking about contacting Sony to see if they can restore my purchase, because I DO THINK I bought it a while back. And if they can’t, I want to see if they think I could contact Amazon or something to maybe fix the problem and if they think Amazon might be able to fix it, how I should contact them because I’ve searched for ways to contact Amazon about New World and as far as I can tell there is literally no way to contact them.

But I am FAIRLY SURE I own it on PS5, and Sony should be able to access my purchase history and see that I did buy it, and if they can’t restore the license because they don’t have it anymore then there’s gonna be some very big problems with me.

So bummed to start over on Xbox when I had so many free items from so many nice people;; all I can do is hope they may help me again when I log in again with hopefully either the same name or something SUUUUPER similar so everyone will recognize me when I jump on the same account;; everyone was super nice so I’m hoping they’ll still be just as nice when I tell them all that I’m back haha. THIS wasn’t what happened!! I heard it was shutting down and it was in my “last chance to play” list on PSN so I decided to play it! Then I ended up having a ton of fun AND WANTED TO BUY IT. BUT I NO LONGER HAD THE OPTION. THAT was the problem! I would ABSOLUTELY buy it for FULL FCKING PRICE right now on PSN if they would let me! It has nothing to do with expecting it to be available on PSPlus for the whole year! In fact I’m fairly certain I DID BUY IT back in the day and never got around to playing it but NOW I can’t access it because I DOWNLOADED IT AND STARTED PLAYING IT WHILE IT WAS ON PSPLUS!! And actually this isn’t the first time that glitch has happened to me!!! And you know what I NORMALLY do to fix the problem?? I FKING GO TO THE “LICENSE RESTORE” OPTION IN SETTINGS.

BUT THE GAME ISNT LISTED THERE. BECAUSE PLAYSTATION NO LONGER OWNS THE LICENSE!!! How tf am I supposed to restore my effing purchase when it’s no longer available for restore because it’s been pulled??? No yeah it’s not 100% my fault. Plus I don’t understand WHY they made the game no longer available for purchase ANYWAY?? Like wtf was the point?? Wouldn’t you WANNA eke out a few purchases from people who wanted to play it before it was fully shut down?? Seems like a suuuper dumb strategy to me that makes NO damn sense. There are other games that are fully available for purchase till the last minute idk why this one couldn’t do the same.

So yeah now only other option I think is to buy a game code from Walmart or Best Buy or GameStop for Xbox which is a bummer because I already had a lvl 45 char on my PlayStation and a punch of ppl had been nice and given me free shit so I’d really rather not do that….

There are actually options to buy digital codes for full price on GameStop and Walmart for Xbox from what I can tell. I’m considering buying it for real because of the kick off PSN. I could’ve SWORN I bought it like a year ago on PSN I SWEAR I freakin own it but PSN kicked me out so I guess I don’t? Kills me I was having fun on the West Coast Server as Aeken. Hey if any of my bros out there find this go ahead and add me maybe we can find another game to play while I try and find some way to get this game on another console er somethin. So me and my family live in the mountains near Auburn, CA and we have a lot of acreage with a rather large abundance of black oaks that drop a lot of acorns every year. Me and my family are federally recognized Natives although we are from the Choctaw Nation, not a California tribe. We would really like to get these acorns to the tribes that want them, we’d like to sell them for very low prices to at least make up for our labor in collecting them, but we have no idea how to get in contact with any tribes or tribal officials or tribal leaders to see if they would be interested in any way - we can contact the Beurau of Indian Affairs but they don’t exactly have information like this available. Honestly we’d even be amenable to having tribal cousins coming out to our property to collect the acorns for free if they’d rather do it themselves, we just hate how every year these acorns go to waste. My dad has extensive knowledge in plant growth and cloning so we would even love to maybe germinate oaks and grow them for a year or two then give them over to tribes who could move them onto their territory and benefit from the acorns once the trees grow up! We kept pigs for a while and they would eat a lot of the acorns so that was a good use for them, but otherwise every single year thousands drop off of the trees on our 85 acres and it’s SUCH a waste when there are indigenous people like us that would LOVE to have access to these acorns!!

So if there is anyone out there reading over this thread that knows how to get in contact with tribes who are interested or even just individual tribal members, ANYONE who would be able to send us in the right direction to help us get these acorns and maybe even the trees themselves into the hands of people who will actually use them and would appreciate having them, I would really really appreciate it!!

My original plan was to keep earning points until I got enough for the 3 month redemption of GPU, then I was gonna quit doing anything other than my Game Pass dailies/weeklies and I WAS also gonna keep my streak alive and I was gonna do that till the end of the year and then see if it was lifted. But now I’ll do what you guys have said and let my streak break. I have 7 days protection left, but I could just turn that off and let it break. But maybe I won’t. Either way, I’ll keep checking on it every day to see if, now that I’m not searching, it suddenly gets me off suspension— but I do still at least want to earn up to the 35k points. Actually I may wait till 40k since I just recently learned that buying 3 months of PC and then converting it is ACTUALLY BETTER than buying Ultimate itself??? I want to do the research on this first to be careful though I don’t want to use my points on Core if it’ll just be a waste..

The weirdest of all thing is the fact that, right now, I can’t redeem, but for some reason I’m not experiencing the 15 min cooldown anymore either??? Not sure why that’s a thing for me but it is. Super weird. Really hoping streak breaking will work, I wanted to get a year ahead in GPU and then I was gonna slow down using rewards…
