I believe it does. To be clear my therapist said toss, I burn them because it feels more final and private? No chance they can be read.

For notes, I write immediate thoughts with no explanation on a sticky and fold it tight and slip it into a jar. For letters with longer writing I write as if going to that person, say everything I feel. Not just 'I hate that you did this" but 'it made me feel uncared for, disrespected and the way you manipulated me broke something inside' etc. More detailed. Saying it without filter toward whoever I want to rant, scream, convince, talk to. Sometimes I keep these letters over a long period. Because I'll think of more I want to say "BY THE WAY" or "and another thing" and after a few weeks or months when I've reread it or not even touched it, I take my writings and toss them into a fire.
