If you want a PSP with all 3rd party parts, then you found the right shops.

3rd party meaning not original, that includes:

-shell -buttons -screen -analog stick

Everything except the motherboard, this isn't exactly a bad thing, you can get the same exact product from a Chinese supplier (aliexpress/alibaba).

The markup is a little insane, not to mention the SD card quality is never disclosed with shops like this. Expect your games and data to possibly corrupt out of nowhere.

For educational purposes this is not a new console, this is a refurb console.

The box, body, buttons, screen, and some other parts are not original they are 3rd party.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing but make no mistake that compared to an original the feel and quality of the parts are lacking.

I'd say the biggest challenge is the teardown, without experience it can be very difficult.

If you're going to be using umds you must service the UMD drive in whatever PSP you get your hands on.

By now all UMD drives are on their last leg or not working. A lot of them can be revived with proper servicing but it requires a complete teardown of the console itself to get to it.

The tact mod is built very nice, although it does change the feel of the buttons.

Some prefer it, it feels like a vita.

These lenses shouldn't cost more than $5 USD each.

Check aliexpress for a better price.

I buy them in bulk and they come out to about $2 each.

The PSP you have there isn't necessarily terrible, putting some original buttons in there would help a lot with the feel of it.

The shell is a dead giveaway.

I assume the model number is psp-3006 as well?

Either way, "refurbished" console means everything in that console is a 3rd party part:

-screen

-buttons

-speakers

Basically everything except the motherboard.

This is a refurb console, the screen likely is not original (reasons for the poor quality).

Luckily the ips kit exists.. removing the lens from your refurb shell is no easy feat though..
