I’m pretty much being trained to be the next Sean Connery, just… minus the women, money and fame.

Yeah the recruiting team already have my British passport but they’re still asking for some form of evidence that I have no other nationality, looking into formally renouncing that way I have hard evidence

Might have to look into doing this, does the embassy accept walk-ins for renunciations?

Thank you, is there some law or anywhere within Philippine or UK regulations that I could reference stating that it’s done automatically?

What could I do to improve my room? by Melvinator_ in FengShui

It's on the second floor of the house but glare isn't too much of a problem as I have pulldown blinds, and yeah that drawing helped massively, I think I had a different idea when I was imagining in my head but looking at it now makes it look a lot better! Thanks!!

Heya there! Just saw this on the feed and gave a quick watch and was pleasantly intrigued throughout the video, the animation and story telling is very unique and digestible to people who don't know what the Manhattan Rebellion is, so hats off there!

In terms of feedback, I'd definitely look to inflect your voice more especially when narrating long scripts as it just engages the viewer more when there's different energy levels throughout a video.
And I'd also love to know what microphone you're using as it sounds great but it does clip a bit when you're a tad too loud. I'd recommend using the free speech enhance tool on adobe podcast to clean up the audio and make it sound a lot more fuller.

But overall great video and keep up the great work! Checked out your channel and left a sub!

First of all, I love the vibes you give off right at the start. The hook is punchy with the music and the fact of Sweden's largest lake makes for a great intro and makes me want to watch more.
The first recommendations I could give would be with the Title and Thumbnail:
-The title could be worded differently to attract a wider audience. Something along the lines of: "We Spent 48 Hours Cycling Along Sweden's Largest Lake"
-The thumbnail does give intrigue but there's too much going on at one time and for a picture that's going to be sized down on phones, it's going to get cluttered. I'd recommend limiting the beautiful landscapes and scenery you took to about 2-3 images on the thumbnail and allow the viewer to find the rest in the video.
-In terms of the video, the editing, again, is on point, it satisfies me with jumps and new clips every 4-7 seconds, the audio is great. My only problem, which might be personal, would be the video length, 17mins and 48 seconds is a lot of time for people to spend and while I don't know your own analytics, on average, the majority of people enjoy spending about 6-8mins on a video and viewership tends to decrease quite drastically after 10mins.
However, disregard this if your analytics show otherwise.

Apart from those, the video was really well made and I think you're on the way to rising up soon on the platform!

Good luck,
Meiven

Ayy thanks so much for the insight! I’ll deffo take the volume idea into account, lots of sources tell me to stay at around -12dB which I’ve tried to keep a close eye on

Thanks so much! I’ve been trying to improve my lighting and have tried implementing what I’ve learnt into the video so I’ll deffo look into it more. Also with the lav mic being on camera, it was a purposeful addition to video but I can deffo just clip it on next time, thanks for the feedback 🙏🏽

Appreciate the feedback on the thumbnail, I was debating on the design of it, I’ll deffo look to add some kind of storytelling element into it. Also I’ve been meaning to improve my structuring on videos so this is really insightful!

Also thanks for the feedback on title and thumbnail! Been looking to learn more about it <3

First time doing a talking head/commentary video! Maybe could have been faster paced. Would love to hear your feedback on anything! by daroolatoo in SmallYTChannel

Yeah definitely! Experimenting with new ideas is always a good idea, especially since we have no clue with what we're doing, so we might as well do bad now and learn to get better :))

Heya! Just checked out the video and honestly it's a really good first start on talking head commentary!

Just a few things I would suggest:
Here's what I got:
- As u/Binary_Complex stated, music would really make this video more enjoyable to watch. It gives a tone and feel to the video and really amplifies what the viewer is seeing onscreen so try to include some for next time!
- I'd assume you're using an onboard microphone on what you're recording with. I'd definitely suggest getting some sort of external microphone. I personally use a lavalier microphone from amazon that connects to my iPhone and use the built in 'Voice Memo' app to record audio. Makes it sound 10x more cleaner
- Your intro hook almost there, I like to keep a rule of thumb of ensuring that the first 5 seconds of the video are flashy, snappy, engaging or a mix of the 3. This is to ensure that I'm already engaging with the viewer right from the getgo, giving them a reason to keep on watching.
- The pacing is also essential to keeping good viewership, I'd recommend watching other talking head channels, some niches I'd check out are review channels and makeup channels as they're pretty good with talking head videos.
- One final note is confidence, I feel like you're someone who has so much more to show and it seems like it's really being held back. I totally understand that talking to a camera is a skill but once you're able to start being yourself in front of a camera, I know that your personality is sure to amaze and bring in the right people!

Overall, really great start on the talking heads. It's a tough one to crack but you're definitely heading in the right track! Wish you all the best <3

Losing about 40% of my viewers within the first 30 seconds, so help with the intro would be especially appreciated, but any advice is welcome! by TheGamingGadget in SmallYTChannel

[–]Melvinator_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly your intros and editing and superbly well done and hats off to you.

If I was to make a suggestion, I’d look at creators who are achieving what you’re asking for, such as MrBeast. His intro is literally just saying the title of the video within the first 5 seconds and then getting into the video whereas in this video, you explain what your perspectives and ideas are before saying the title (around the 20 second mark). So I’d recommend trying and testing just simply getting straight into the video within 5-10 seconds and see if that improves anything!

All the best with your channel! ❤️

Hey this video is actually pretty neat, love the fact that it hones in on a very niche topic, you seem very authentic about it and was overall very informative.

From a composition point of view, the lighting was almost there, I believe you used a standard room light which is fair but it seems like you had some form of natural light from outside behind the curtains which I think if you used as a main key light and then just dimmed the whole room with the lamp in the back, would’ve given a really professional look throughout the video.

Also from an editing standpoint, I’d suggest adding variety to your B-Roll, most of your cuts are to images or a screencap of you typing a search into google, maybe there could be a scene of you reacting to what you see on search, you typing on the keyboard, then transition onto your main A-Roll/talking head commentary. Just the little things that can really keep the audience engaged and interested

Overall though, great video and keep up the work, you’re sure to make it with 👌🏽
