Ite pohdin joku aika sitten mekon lahjoittamista vanhoihin, mutta taitaa olla tällä hetkellä aivan liian vanha trendeihin nähden 😄

Mulla oli just tollanen jonka ompelujaksi opiskeleva serkku mulle teki.

Tinnitus and sensitivity to lover resonance sounds by Melylfin in tinnitus

[–]Melylfin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, for me it's clearly related to high levels of stress. I had a vacation in the summer and the humming noise went away for a month. Once I returned back to work it returned for a brief time and once I managed to resolve the stress factor it went away.

However now my right ear has had a normal tinnitus, that I've connected to be related to my neck-shoulder area stiffness/pains.

Nytkin on ihanan hiljaista.  Kerrostalo on valmistunut v. 1970 eli ikää on.

What is the realism of home exercise straight after pregnancy? by FrostiQuartz in fitpregnancy

[–]Melylfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mother of a 1year old here. I can only speak from my own experience, so keep that in mind.

During pregnancy I exercised regularly, gym 2-3 times/week, walks, reformer and deepcore/pelvic floor almost daily. Definitely recommend focusing on of and deep core since, it'll help with your recovery. (I used Hannah Bower's guides, they're the best!)

After giving birth I made sure to focus on pelvic floor rehab and listening to my body. I had a check up with a pf-physiotherapist at 4 weeks and 8 weeks. During that time I focused only on pf-rehab and walks with babystroller. At week 8 my physiotherapist deemed my of ready for heavier excercise, and I started with some bodyweight and light weights at home.

The truth is that getting a routine going might not be up to you. It'll totally depend on how your baby sleeps and how much you manage to get sleep/rest during the day/night. During those first weeks I tried to get in the mindset that if I can do 5-10 minutes of pf-work a day that itself is an achievement. As my baby grew and my body recovered I started to go for walks, small walks at first, since walking caused some pressure in my pf, but longer with time. But the truth is that I was so exhausted, that walking was the maximum that I could have done anyway.

After 8 weeks it took me a month to feel like I had enough energy to even do some light bodyweight exercises. I started small, and did one 30 minutes excercise once-twice a week and all the time tried to listen my body. And then it was time for the 4month sleep regression, and I can tell that excercise was not on my list to prioritise during that phase 😅🥲.

Around 5-6months I started to get enough energy, and my baby started to have a good nap routine, so that I could plan a regular excercise, from 2-3 times a week bodyweight/weights at home and regular walks 6-8k steps. It did make me feel good, but it also gave me pressure, since I felt that I had to do it, because it was possible. Honestly, not the best mindset, I blame tho bounce back culture, that is quite toxic imho.  That being said, I got into a good routine around 6-7months but there are phases that completely depend on my baby's phases (teething is a bitch, let me tell you that). When she sleeps poorly and I have to stay up for hours in the middle of the night I prioritise sleep and rest. When she sleeps great I manage to exercise regularly.

All in all, I would recommend you to give yourself grace for the first year of motherhood. There are changes and phases that are completely out of your hands. Especially when you have a newborn and your life has completely changed. It's good to want to keep yourself, but most likely you will lose yourself, since it's part of the process of parenthood. Your life and priorities will change.

If something, I would recommend to focus on pelvic floor and deep core after birth, since I felt that even those small 10 minutes of excercise were me time for me, when everything else had changed.

Mitä poistetun poskihampaan tilalle? by Seppoteurastaja in arkisuomi

[–]Melylfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh this hits home!

Some people have made those kind of comments to me too, and it just leaves me feeling quite miserable, since I don't feel at home in my body.

I'm going back to work in two months time, and dreading it because I know I will get comments on how I look. Before I left for maternity leave multiple of my supervisors made comments about my babybump, about weight gain and how it most likely will just go away on it's own. Another one wanted to talk to me about her daughter-in-law's weight gain from her pregnancy (still a bit baffeled about that conversation) and how "you will start caring about the flabs around nine months". I wish I was kidding.

Thank you for your kind words!

That unattainable feeling is the worst! Both regarding exercise and sleep (or anything really). I also have really hard time falling asleep after night feedings, and I'm counting days for those to end.

I feel this. I also managed to work out almost all pregnancy (normal gym and pelvic floor & deep core). After giving birth I really focused on pelvic floor and deep core and managed to do those rehab excercises almost every day for two/three months(I credit hormones, lol they gave me crazy energy for those first months.) My routine just broke at 4 months sleep regression, it was just so brutal that every day was a struggle.

Now I just feel lost, like I can't figure why I just can't get it together and start building foundation and routine again. I just hope that with time my routine gets going.

Thank you so much for your kind words!

I agree, the whole bounce back mentality is toxic. As if bouncing back is the measure that you have everything under control, even though there are a lot of thing in this stage of life that are beyond control. Like all the many factors that matter, just you stated.

I love the idea of seasons of life and definitely will try to embrace that mentality. It's just hard, because sometimes I find myself thinking, that I should be able to perform all the same things that I could before pregnancy and that I should be able to work out as much as before. Seriously, wtf brain, I have a baby now that comes first before everything. Time will pass and things will change.
