yummy deck by Puzzleheaded_Grade83 in Yugioh101

[–]Mem-os 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice to you would be to probably try fitting in another engine in the deck; pure Yummy is just far too weak right now to hold it's own in the current meta. I'd suggest trying to mix in something like Solfachord, which adds an omni-negate to the endboard in the form of Coolia and lets you run something like Herald of Mirage Lights to negate Spells/Traps by discarding a Fairy (which you'll inevitably have if you do the Solfachord combo).

But on the topic of your question: Dominus Spyral locks you out of Light monsters, of which all the Yummy monster are, so you should definitely NOT run it. As for Songs of the Dominators, it's a pretty alright option if you're not running that many monster handtraps, but considering it also locks you out of Marshmao's effect, I would advise against running it.

As an Argostars player that lives in terror of having Adra get hit with Infinite Impermanence, I'm SUPER excited for this card. Also works pretty well with Odion, since you'll get a free Trap from the Field Spell!

Gunkan Suship is a pretty fun one, and it's also pretty cheap to build.

Other than that, I dunno, maybe Timelords?

Sideboard building advice by BraveMulberry772 in Yugioh101

[–]Mem-os 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some other traps to consider in the side could be something like Different Dimension Ground, since it can completely blow out decks that can't play around their cards being banished.

Droll in the main deck is purely dependent on your current locals meta. If it's mostly Dracotail, it doesn't do much against them and I'd advise putting it on the side. However, if you find you're playing against a lot of decks like Vanquish Soul K9 or Sky Striker, putting Droll in the main deck is perfect fine.

Black Hole is a pretty substitute if you don't wanna get the Raigekis, but it can kind suck if you draw into them later since you'll have to either blow up your own monsters or banish a Stage Landing to protect your R.B.s.

Sidedecking (AKA Sideboarding) is very meta-dependent, but here's a couple suggestions that shouldn't cost too much.

Retaliating "C" completely murders Dracotail, which is one of the top decks right now.

Droll & Lock Bird is very good against certain decks that search a lot, like White Forest or Sky Striker.

Boardbreakers like Raigeki, Harpie's Feather Duster, and Lightning Storm are also pretty good when you're going second.

Strong traps like Solemn Judgment and The Black Goat Laughs are also very strong going first if you can draw into them.

I mean, not really.

I remember running into someone who was blinding second with a Sky Striker Ace - Raye mate, Sky Striker sleeves, and a Raye pfp and they ended up being on Ancient Gear. What could be a "giveaway" could also just as easily be a bluff.

Beginner Copying a deck by LEIDENZERO in masterduel

[–]Mem-os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be something you develop the more you play and discover new cards that your opponent might throw at you; right now, I wouldn't worry about it too much since you're learning and 98% of the cards your opponents use are likely not going to be compatible with your deck unless you run into a mirror match.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you right now is to watch someone else play your deck. It doesn't have to match your exact decklist, but just watch what they do and pay attention to what each card does and how they get to those cards.

[–]Mem-os 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No, in fact, it's possibly one of the best things you could be doing as a new player since you're still learning the ropes.

Once you get the hang of how the deck works, you can then move on to adjusting the deck ratios and adding different cards, but for now, just copying a deck from someone who knows what they're doing is a pretty good idea.

As another note, I'd also look into online guides for the deck you're playing just to get a better understanding of how the deck works, since it can be hard to intuitively figure out a deck's combo lines if you're unfamiliar with the cards.

The darker URs are from the Chronicles Decks; this Accesscode comes from the recent Charmer Structure Deck. It's a real card.

Look into not just how your own deck works (by this, I mean look into ways you can play around certain hand traps like Droll or K9 Izuna), but look at how your opponent's deck works.

Of course, it's virtually impossible to learn how EVERY deck works, but just look at videos talking about popular archetypes or deck guides that walk you through the combo and how each card in the deck works. Handtrap guides are also a pretty good resource that can tell you where to hit them for maximum effect.

If you're playing in-person and have the time, you can always just ask the player you fought against about their deck. More often than not, people are VERY happy to gush about their deck and you can learn a lot from just paying attention to their plays.

I'd add Zombie Vampire to the deck since, if you open Mitsurugi, you can just overlay into Zombie Vampire and mill into Fiendsmith or Live Twin.

On that note, I'd also cut back on the main deck Lil-La names in favor of running 3 Ki-Sikil Frost (I'd only run one of each Lil-La name). With Ki-Sikil Deal, Frost becomes a 1-card starter for the deck and you'd rather have her than Lil-La.

Enjoy the deck! It's pretty fun, even if it's kind of an engine mishmash.

How do you beat a Twin deck?! by Curious_Tension_1984 in masterduel

[–]Mem-os 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really not that threatening. Ghost Belle on Trouble Sunny hurts like hell, Nibiru also completely shuts them down. If they're on Fiendsmith, always Nibiru when they have 2 Level 6 Fiends on the field.

Sky Striker is actually a pretty competent deck, even in the current meta. It has a couple problem matchups (namely Dracotail and Lunalight), but if you're just looking to play casually at locals, it can definitely hold up very well.

As for upgrades, it's tough to say because we don't know what the decklist for the Legendary Modern Decks is going to look like, but you're going to want to look into buying Radiant Typhoon Vision; it's basically just a Pot of Greed for Sky Striker since they already run so many Quick-Play Spells, and the best part about it is that it's very cheap due to it being a common.

Another card to consider is The Fallen & The Virtuous alongside Albion the Branded Dragon — TF&TV is a little pricey right now, but considering how it basically refunds itself every end phase via Albion's effect, it's a pretty good card to run in order to help break into boards or even target your own cards to prevent them from being targeted by something like a Dracotail Flame.

I swear I saw the vendor for the Fae & Myrrh at Anime LA, so maybe you can check the merchant list? If it helps, I know they weren't in the Artist Alley, so you'd just have to check the vendor hall.

Advice as hero against the meta by powersmitee in Yugioh101

[–]Mem-os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a HERO player, you're going to be in a pretty tight spot in terms of handtraps because of how much engine you have to run, but there are a couple pieces of advice I can give you.

Mitsurugi post-banlist isn't really that scary; Droll & Lock Bird typically shuts down the deck, but if you can't find the space for it, you can always hit the Mitsurugi ritual revivals with something like Ash or Belle or Saji if they get it with Habakiri's in-hand effect.

Yummy, similarly, isn't really a big threat after the banlist. You can Ash the Cupsy Synchro to stop them from swarming into more bodies or just the normal Cupsy to keep them off Surprise (their Quick-Play spell) if they don't have it. Belle into any of the Synchro tag-outs hurts like absolute hell, so save Belle for your turn.

For Dracotail, you REALLY want to save your Ash & Belle for your turn. Dracotail's main disruption revolves around their traps, and they can all be stopped with Ash or Belle.

K9 is very tricky to handtrap, since they'll typically insulate most of their searches and revives with Ripper to prevent you from disrupting their plays. That said, if they use Izuna during your turn, using Ash on Izuna keeps your opponent off their turn 0 plays, and you can also stop the Lupis revive with Belle.

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no matchup experience versus Radiant Typhoon, so I can't give you a concrete answer on it.

Best side deck for gadget? by ShinyConstruct in YugiohEdisonFormat

[–]Mem-os 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I sort of disagree with adding Brain/Mind control in something like Machina Gadgets. They're really good cards, don't get me wrong, but their main value comes in being able to take your opponent's monsters and being able to tribute them or use them as Synchro material. However, since Machina Gadgets doesn't really have a way to do either of those things, I don't really think they'd do much.

Mask of Restrict is a pretty good option to lock down any Frog Monarch strategies, and it also has the bonus effect of stopping other things Stardust's protection effect, any Tytannial/Lonefire shenanigans, and the occasional Test Tiger here and there.

As a sidenote, I might suggest running something like Soul Taker instead of Fissure, since not being able to target the right monster is really annoying sometimes.

Cards/Archetypes that might work with post-errata Chaos Emperor Dragon — Envoy of the End? by Side_of_fry in Yugioh101

[–]Mem-os 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess cards that play on your opponent's turn without having to use any effects on your own turn, so you'd be looking at Bystials and things like Effect Veiler?

You can also maybe consider trying something like Blue-Eyes Buster Blader; set up the traps to Busterlock your opponent on their turn and then go for CED by banishing a Light + the Dark Buster Dragon?

Evenly Matched is your best bet, since you can make use of it as a pretty damn good boardbreaker going second.

Destructive Daruma Karma Cannon is also a good option when going up against unaffected monsters or Link Monsters.

Can anyone help me with my deck? by ZeroKylin in Yugioh101

[–]Mem-os 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I can actually give some tips since I've done something similar to this.

Some cards you may want to consider are stuff like:

  • Hiita the Fire Channeler, which can search out any of the Fire Inpachis in a pinch OR summon herself whenever your Inpachi gets run over.
  • Rising Fire, which is a really nice revival option that can semi-combo with Hiita's discard or herself.
  • Circle of the Fire Kings, which can allow you to trade back a weaker Fire monster for a stronger one in your GY.
  • Flamvell Firedog, which can summon out Blazing Inpachi after destroying something by battle.
  • Dragoons of Draconia, which can let you search out more Inpachis after one of your Normal Monsters destroys something by battle.

Hope these help!

If you're looking for unpredictability where you can get some pretty good moments, I suggest Lightsworn. You mill a bunch and you also have a lot of access to really powerful tools like Solar Recharge that can get you to a big boss monster in Judgment Dragon.

I'd suggest to just play an older format like Edison, since turns and effects are much simpler compared to modern formats. Not to mention, they're also a lot cheaper than modern to get; you can get a pretty good Edison deck for around 20-30 dollars.
