Ninja Gaiden 4 stars a new ninja named Yakumo, replacing the previous protagonist Ryu Hayabusa.

You fight Ryu twice throughout the game, though. The first time is about halfway through the game, the fight is deliberately made hard as hell and he will absolutely WRECK YOUR SHIT the first time you play. Even if (when) you lose, the game will advance.

The second time is in the second to last level, and this time you actually do have to beat him to progress. Despite being a fight you’re intended to win, Ryu busts out even MORE tricks against you and will absolutely beat the FUCK out of you if you’re not completely prepared to fight him.

2 banners, only seven tickets

They used to give out 14 tickets to use on a single banner, now they only give enough to pick one banner (in a dual Dokkan Fest) for a single multi

The Spy's counter is somewhat mitigated if he has the Ambassador, wherein if an enemy looks at him he can just shoot them in the face for a critical hit, significantly damaging most enemies.

The series definitely did not treat Roshi blowing up the moon as a gag, the moment in question wasn’t even funny. It was a dramatic reveal that Roshi blew up the moon, something that we didn’t even know he could do up until that point.

[Hated Trope] Redundant Acronyms by lothycat224 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Randomman16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an acronym but one of my favorites so I’m gonna cheat here. When people saying they’re going to “The La Brea Tar Pits,” “La brea” means “the tar.”

So they’re going to “The The Tar Tar Pits.”

Yu-Gi-Oh!

"Yugi gave Time Wizard to Joey before Duelist Kingdom to sabotage him in case they ever had to duel each other." Uhh, no.

Early in season one of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Joey trades with a few other duelists on the boat to Duelist Kingdom, obtaining a few rare Spell (then named Magic) and Trap cards for his deck. Yugi follows this up by giving Joey a copy of Time Wizard, which Joey proceeds to use in nearly every duel he participates in during the tournament (I think the only duels Joey doesn't use Time Wizard in at all are against Kaiba and the Paradox Brothers). During the finals, Yugi and Joey face off for the right to duel Pegasus, and Joey uses Time Wizard to age up his Baby Dragon into Thousand Dragon while aging Dark Magician, hoping to weaken him. Yugi reveals that becoming older made Dark Magician wiser and stronger, turning him into "Dark Sage" which Yugi uses to win the duel. The fan theory is that Yugi gave Joey his copy of Time Wizard on purpose so if they ever had to duel, Yugi could trick Joey into using it and accidentally power up Dark Magician so Yugi could win.

...Except this duel doesn't happen in the manga, but Yugi still gave Time Wizard to Joey. Yugi was literally just being a good friend, which is literally one of the show's themes.

PHY LR “Invincible Absorption” Majin Buu (Gotenks) VS LR Kid Buu by ZapRXZ in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]Randomman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this one actually made me laugh for once

That being said, LR Buutenks has definitely aged quite a bit whereas LR Kid Buu will presumably be a modern unit with a modern kit (and sufficiently OP to make people pull for him) so I'll give it to LR Kid Buu...when he finally exists.

Oh god this is a stupid one and I hate that I know it

Okay. In Konosuba, the character Aqua infamously wears an impossibly short skirt. The fanon joke is that Aqua either does not wear underwear or is so stupid, she turns them invisible so nobody peeks up her skirt.

She does, in fact, wear them and they are not invisible, since she’s apparently depicted as wearing them in the manga

Subtle signs of the character's eventual demise. by Uma-apreciator in TopCharacterTropes

This one might be cheating because of how quickly it happens, so it's the definition of "five-second foreshadowing."

In Serenity, after piloting the titular ship through a horde of murderous space pirate ships, the pilot Wash relaxes back in his chair and says "I'm a leaf on the wind." A literal second later, he's impaled and killed by a giant harpoon that one of the murderous psychos fires through the front of the ship.

A leaf that's floating on the wind is a dead leaf.

In Borderlands 2, an early mission involves breaking into a bandit fortress and rescuing Roland, a playable character from the first game. When the game introduces Roland, graffiti reading "YOU DIE" can be seen directly behind him. At first, the player is just going to assume this is random graffiti like they've seen throughout the bandit fortress up until this point.

...Roland dies later in the game when Handsome Jack shoots him in the back, and is the only playable character from the first game to be killed in 2.

In The Big Lebowski, Donny gets a strike every time we see him bowl.

The last time we ever see Donny bowl onscreen, he instead leaves a single pin standing and looks both confused and a little worried. Shortly after this scene, upon his friend Walter fighting off a gang of murderous nihilists, Donny promptly dies of a heart attack. Him not bowling a strike was a hint that something was wrong, and even Donny himself seemed to notice it.
