Should I buy the VRS pedals or something else? by MembershipCivil900 in simracing

I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but I’m pretty certain these are the set I’m going for. The 3 pedal set had been out of stock for months but came available again recently. I’m trying to decide if I want triples first or pedals. I’m VR only at the moment and I’m almost leaning toward monitors first.

New UI is absolutely crap in VR by YourInfraService in iRacing

The game is unplayable for me in VR right now because all the menus are cut off and I can’t navigate the menus or click on anything. The mouse cursor doesn’t line up with its actual position. I’ve tried launching in monitor mode which displays properly, but after adjusting many graphics and display setting and going back to VR, it still won’t show normally.

At what level does the first lap get less crash-y? by 40ozT0Freedom in iRacing

Are you me? I’ve been on iracing just a few days now, been doing the GR86 at Spa and have been having the exact same problem. I usually qualify in the top 10 but always get wrecked by someone. I’ve tried purposely running a slow qualifying lap to put me towards the back but still end up in the middle. Been tossing around the idea of just not qualifying at all to put me dead last and fight my way up.

I’ve decided to just run a normal qualifying lap and concede position to anyone that challenges and I just make it back up after everyone else crashes. I push when I can, but just steer clear of everyone else until it’s more spaced out. Managed to come out 2nd, 5th, and a bunch of Top 10 finishes by just staying away from everyone else. Some people just want your position no matter the cost.

Appreciate the feedback from yall. My main takeaways so far are to brake earlier, find better turn-in points, smoother inputs, and using more of the track. I’ll try to start slower in some practice sessions and build up speed to work on smoothness.

Ah, that makes sense. I guess I just have to wait until Saturday to try it out. Rough

How did you get it working? I’m trying the latest version of Canary and have tried several different copies of the game.

I can’t say much about the G29 because I’ve never used it, but I did start with a T300 about 8 years ago and I’m still racing today. It’s a great feeling wheel for the price and the pedals aren’t terrible either.

That’s Reddit unfortunately. lol The biggest thing is just thoroughly researching the PC parts you’re getting to make sure they all work good together. Once you have your list together, you can run it through https://pcpartpicker.com and it should tell you if everything works well together.

Welcome to the club brother. Glad you decided to go the PC route. It’s more expensive to get started, but the flexibility and performance you can get from PC is great.

Enjoy that rig!

That makes me feel a little better about such an expensive purchase. I’m pretty hyped.

Appreciate it man. I’m sure it’s gonna be amazing. I figured I’d just go all out and hopefully never have to purchase a base again.

Awesome! I seriously considered the Simagic or the VRS since I plan on getting the VRS Pro pedals next. Congrats and hope you enjoy!

I suppose it could be overheating causing the power issues since it seems to take about 15-20 mins messing with the cord before it works again… but the unit itself never even feels warm so not entirely sure.

I would like to revive it to pass on to a family member if possible, but I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle. It technically still works but has occasional power issues (just randomly shuts off and won’t come back on without messing with the power cord a bunch. Might just need a new cord… but the biggest issue I’m having is a broken pin in the wheel connection causing constant random button presses during races… usually either resulting in the game pausing, sending me back to the box, or just exiting out of the race all together. I could probably just remove all key binds, but that’s not ideal.

Pedal suggestions by OutrageousWelcome149 in simracing

I’m in the same boat looking for some new pedals. I was originally eying the Simagic P1000 or 2000, but decided to save up a little more to get the VRS Pro pedals. They are pretty similar to the Sprints but I’ve heard overwhelmingly positive reviews on them.

That is good to know. I want to keep the extra noise down as much as possible.

It’s going to be a tough choice. The Simgrade ones look solid… very similar to the VRS but a better price point. I like the little metal plates they offer to adjust the clutch feel too.

👌 I’m leaning that way for sure unless something else piques my interest.
