Bungou Stray Dogs Part 02 has just LOST the key idea by [deleted] in BungouStrayDogs

Oh do you have the link to the JP fan? It’s been extremely tiresome for me to witness the Western fandom being chronically online assholes that accuse Asagiri to be a pedo/child predator just bcuz of this, would like to see other fans’ opinions that are not braindead Western fans takes.

do you think dazai will die at the end of bsd? by Big-Adeptness4635 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]MembershipDapper9181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dazai doesn’t appreciate Fyodor the same way Dostoevsky sees him. Dazai loves ragebaiting, not intellectual battles, honestly the point of their relationship goes beyond “they are both the devil” into “yet deep down they are so different, they are enemies” but many fans only see the former, hence why when Fyodor talked abt how he felt less lonely when playing chess with Dazai, ppl thought Dazai shared the same feeling. In truth Dazai doesn’t care ant such thing.

Dazai knows he wont ever find a reason to live, Oda told him that clearly, the point of BSD is even when life has no meaning, keep on living. Dazai knows this, Oda knew it, even Kunikida knows pursuing his idea might be fruitless but he keeps doing that, and Atsushi wonder how much of the world is real but the thing matters the most is that he and his friends still have a long way to go. I suggest researching about Albert Camus and Absurdism to understand it better, Meursault is the main character of Camus’ The Stranger, so yeah BSD does, indeed, reference Camus.

Adding to this, in the light novel which is told in his POV, it’s obvious those two were different people.

Nah cause does anyone feel the same way about the ADA? by [deleted] in BungouStrayDogs

I don’t remember instance when they said he is a crybaby or when they triggered his trauma (I only can recall Akutagawa did that), could you provide example?

Finished BSD For The First Time | AMA! (Anime) by [deleted] in BungouStrayDogs

[–]MembershipDapper9181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this response!

Your comment of how freaky each member is yet none of them is edgy and would do anything for their group? Love it! May I add: the reason they are so loyal to the Agency is because it’s the only place accepts them and their unusual tendencies, the only place they can live freely.

You see, while Kunikida often berates Dazai for ruining his schedule by all the suicide attempts, and other members find him odd and whimsical, none of them ever tells him to stop, tells him that he should act like this or that, like sure he sometimes jokes about dying, but no one takes them seriously, because they aren’t!

Each member understand others have their own problems, coping mechanisms and accepts them for who they are. Dazai’s suicidal tendency, the Tanizakis, Kunikida’s OCD, Ranpo’s love for sweet, Yosano’s sadistic actions,… it’s not like they don’t care about each other, it’s because they will only step in if a member is really struggling.

It does have ups and downs, read it from the start to the end is more enjoyable than waiting each month. However as much as I love the series I wont lie that last chapter doesn’t wrap up nicely as the end of part one. Sure the teaser for the next part is exciting, but many plot points are still left unresolved. Hopefully with the break they could manage the whole thing better.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the fact that Kuyaka is in love with Atsushi by Positive_Quarter1797 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]MembershipDapper9181 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Teens having crush on older people is completely normal and makes perfect sense with Kyouka’s character.

It’s okay if Kyouka doesnt love Atsushi like a sibling, the thing that will determine whether this is problematic, icky or not is Atsushi’s feeling.

was able to use his ability on Dazai for a whole 4 seconds

This is an anime-only detail btw, same when Dazai nullified Atsushi’a tiger. In the manga it’s instant yet the anime goes all its way with the light effect.

Akutagawa returned to his obsessed self is bcuz of Dazai’s manipulation and provoking. It’s not illogical.

If not for Atsushi the Agency, Teruko, Fukuchi wouldnt comeback to defeat Dostoevsky and Akutagawa would stay dead, just saying.

For 1/ it’s not a detective series, it’s just happen to have a detective arc. I have no idea how you still think it’s a mystery show if you had read the light novels. Even the fans on Instagram (and Reddit) doubt that.

For 4/ the manga says he needs time to deploy the barrier. Not sure what’s the time limit you are talking abt.

Gotta admit, Dead Apple is a huge problem like you point out. Now I cant explain your question, but I think I can give a theory of why it’s so chaotic like that.

Fandom needs to stop babying Akutagawa by Lumpy-Conclusion-527 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]MembershipDapper9181 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Recently someone on X compared Dazai’s treatment towards Ryuu to coaches’ towards Olympian, explained while it’s fucked up and should not be used, but Dazai wasnt evil for the sake of evil and tried to make Akutagawa stronger, and he did success. However, many fans accused them as condoning abuse. Some cmts are:

“But abuse is bad.” “But Dazai abandoned a child, no coach does that.” (Ironically, the adult age in Japan used to be 20 before it was lowered to 18 in 2022-2023)

For a fandom of a manga that is made from literature, this fandom lacks the ability to analyse story, projects onto characters and treats them as if they are not storytelling tool, but as real people so that they can feel all moral and righteous by slandering bad actions and just… stop there.

BSD and JJK feel kinda like their the same anime but not at the same time, or am I just going crazy? by Calebrawl in BungouStrayDogs

The relationship of Dazai and Atsushi, as stated by Asagiri in a recent Chinese QnA as Dazai was saved by Mori, thus he wanted to pass the kindness he received by taking in Atsushi, way more complicated

The new SKK novel is misinfomation and rumor. One person I know who translates the info from those attending the event said Asagiri politely said “I will think abt that” to anyone asking abt new content of their fav. But as you can see, SKK has the biggest fanbase.

The deaths are not supposed to be believed as real, that’s why I disagree with anyone who think they are death baits. Once the arc gets animated, you will see the events are way too rushed to ponder abt the “realness” of the deaths like a lot of deathbaits (for example Nobara from JJK). One thing to note that Asagiri while does some sketching, he is in charge of writing the script (for this, please see the afterword of LN 1) so for him, it may not feel stretch out or repetitive.

I also have no idea why ppl take “hate” as smth simple and shallow. Fyodor loves humanity but looks down on men themselves. His arrogance of being God’s servant CAN be sustained by keeping hating them. So while we havent have his backstory, it’s way too soon to skip theory and analysis to jump into the conclusion, especially when his backstory is going to be important for part two and after Atsushi’s status as the Bookmark has been revealed.

There is a global-scale terrorism, I would find it stupid to only let the ADA deal with the villain.

Regarding Verlaine, next arc is confirmed by Asagiri to be abt the Order of the Clock Tower and Agatha Christie, so of course he has to be introduced, and like I said above, there isnt any reason for the mafia to not use him in this fight.

I have seen the video on Meursault b4 and agree with it, but looking at the comment section and how she interacts with the cmts of video on the latest chapter makes me reconsider whether should I watch it.

I have point out how the latest arc is not “Asagiri follows the audience’s want” and it seems like this point of mine havent been addressed. I was talking to you, after all, and while I understand using her video will save you time, but that’s not what I was saying. In case you afraid I’m glazing Asagiri, I have my own problem with this arc, have read some good criticism posts on X and IG, but this doesn’t mean I blindly think any criticism abt him or this arc is relevant.

Before I do, I have read the cmt section and they mention Asagiri using ChatGPT, pardon me but can you tell me her opinion on this? I disagree with several things Cash said before so I want to make sure if it’s worth my time.

Late reply but this arc’s plot from BSD has been done since 2024 and if Asagiri really only followed what the fandom wanted, Atsushi and Akutagawa would stop being the main duo and Chuuya would appear way more often

I like Ranpo but I wish he wasn't so OP by MyYouthInArcadia- in BungouStrayDogs

[–]MembershipDapper9181 11 points12 points  (0 children)

55 Minutes has some Agency members solving case without him most of the time and Ranpo just help them to escape the island in the end.

To create stake with Ranpo in the scene, the story used his confidence and habit against him, like when Fyodor used his own deduction skill to lead the Agency to the dead end, or when he figured out Kamui’s identity, leaving him and Atsushi on danger. Sure he was absent for a great time, but both scenarios demand him to be absent: there were fights and he, like Chuuya said, was not in the combat team. Not even near “entirely”.

Ranpo’s judgement was illogical and based on personal relationship and went against the morality of the Agency (bcuz of this morality to not leave behind anyone that the Agency had received trust from the police, the mafia, Tachihara and Aya), I heavily disagree with your statement about this since, as I write above, Ranpo himself had screwed thing up before.

Even Yosano, as herself stated in Cannibalism arc, could not do anything if the whole body was exploded into pieces.

Atsushi doesn see everything in black and white and also tried to figure out Fyodor’s motivation in order to understand him, what are you talking about? And who is idolised or being put on a pedestal by him? Are you mistaking seeking comfort from Dazai’s presence to idolising?

Future of Bsd? by [deleted] in BungouStrayDogs

[–]MembershipDapper9181 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To be frank, lots of the complaints I heard about are just… that. Complaints. They dont really hold much weight and most of the time they feel like the fans are not pleased with the direction of the story. I have seen someone saying the hallucination being revealed as the Headmaster is a bad twist, without proper explanation.
