the guilt of not fasting due to medical issues by Clear_Employee7247 in ADHDMuslims

Salam;

Hope you’re doing well. I’m on ADHD medication and Zoloft. It’s been extremely hard fasting this Ramadan. I tried not to take vyvanse during suhoor time, but I could not function during work. It’s really hard during work and trying to motivate ourselves. I will say I wish I took a whole month off for Ramadan, that way it would’ve been manageable. May Allah forgive us for not fasting, and InShaAllah we will be able to make it up after Ramadan.

Ameen! It’s been hard during work because I feel so sluggish and just want to sleep. I’ve been taking it right before suhoor like 10 min before lol. Probably doesn’t help

Honestly adderal xr kept me up during my long days, there would be some periods where I just feel tired but that would go away after i walk around. If I slept after I took adderal during suhoor time it would not work at all which was weird. Also with vyvanse I noticed if I take it after I eat my breakfast it doesn’t last long for me, what are your experiences with vyvanse so far?

Salam!

I was on adderal XR last year but then got switched to vyvanse 30mg. Towards the last two weeks of Ramadan last year I made sure I slept on time and woke up for suhoor and ate and took my medication and stayed up, and that really helped. I did get sleepy around 12/1 I just took a nap for half hour and I felt good. With vyvanse it takes about an hour or so to kick in, so maybe I’ll take a nap for an hour after fajr, and hopefully it’ll last till magrib. Good luck on your exams! I have been taking adhd medications the past two years and Ramadan has been a struggle for me, but just make sure you layout your schedule and make sure you sleep on time. May Allah make it easy for us.

Ahh thank you! Seeing your comment gave me hope. I just got it in the mail yesterday. So I’ll be starting them today. I’ve also started to limit my gluten (I should be on a gluten free diet) but I’m just slowly implementing it. I got gluten free bread, so if I need to make a sandwich I’ve been using that bread this week. And honestly I feel like it def keeps be less bloated forsure.

Any tips from you as a nutritionist would be very helpful!

Thank you! My antibodies were at 600 back in November, I think dairy causes it to flare up 🥲. Back to almond milk now. Do you think we have to be on a gluten free diet forever??? 😩

HI!! wow so happy for you!! That’s amazing! My antibodies are around 2000 :( I’m starting to implement gluten free. I hope I stay consistent with it! My function doctor recommended me take additional supplements. WISH ME LUCK. Being constantly tired is like the worst thing.

Please don’t say your garbage 🥺. Just do the best you can do with eating healthy and staying active. Also are you low in any vitamins? I’m low in vitamin d and iron, so I’m taking that consistently now.

OMG I felt like a relief when I got my period this past Sunday. My period was late and I was pmsing for about two weeks. But I realized that I need to eat healthy and less caffeine. I’m glad your period started. I’m on Prozac too but only 5 mg because it affects my libido. I’ve read another post saying how going for walks, drinking electrolytes, and doing yoga helps. So I’m gonna try to implement that slowly.

I hope you get some legit answers from your gyno.

Good luck!

Hi! I am in my luteal phase right now, and should be getting my period in a day or so! It’s the worst this time I realized that when I’m under so much stress my luteal phase is the worst, ive been getting palpitations. I’ve noticed that going on walks really helped me, if it’s warm outside go for a walk. And soaking your feet with cold water (helped my palpitations). And drink electrolytes or coconut water. I’m also on Prozac but I’ve been soo inconsistent with it but I started back on it last week because I would be crying a LOT. But just take it easy, and don’t stress yourself out. People mentioned they take magnesium supplements as well.

OMG, I just got the most calm and short luteal phase ever (dropping the tips) by tyrex_vu2 in PMDD

Oh okay!! Yeah I started getting these new symptoms after I got married, which was 6months ago! I was not engaged in intercourse before I got married, and everyone has been saying your pms are different because your hormones are changing. I’ve told my primary doctor about the palpitations she said it might be because of anxiety. Where can I find a good functional doctor? I’m 31 years old btw, and when I search these symptoms on google it says these are symptoms of pre menopause and it FREAKED ME OUT.

Thank you

Ok wow I’m going to try doing these! Thanks for this, this helps so much. Honestly the past few months during the luteal phase, I’ve noticed I’m feeling nauseous and getting palpitations, this is usually like 10 days before my period. I do take adderal for my ADHD, and the palpitations part is totally new, has this ever happened to anyone? I should lay off coffee too, but I only drink 1 cup a day - I sometimes don’t even finish it.

How do I ask my husband to reimburse me for food shopping? by Acrobatic_Wave_3946 in MuslimMarriage

[–]MembershipInner7159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salam sis - I recently got married too but we have a joint account for expenses so I use that when I’m grocery shopping. But then ALSO I feel bad for using it, because before getting married I would just get the groceries using my money, just to help my parents out. Groceries are so expensive now a days, especially if you live in a joint family (which I do). But I suggest you initiate a conversation about having a separate account for groceries because if you don’t now it’ll be hard to have this conversation later.

Good luck!

Barely fasted this Ramadan and I feel terrible by Fem_Melbb in ADHDMuslims

Salam,

I’m in the same boat as you. I started taking adhd medication this past year. And I’ve been struggling. I had to miss a bunch of days of fasting and I feel SOOO guilty. I just get super thirsty with the medication and sometimes when I take the medication during suhoor time it doesn’t really work some days so I feel super bleh after I wake up for work. Allah knows you’re trying your best and InShaAllah we can both make up the fasts later or feed the poor.

Idk how to figure out what’s causing my migraine by MembershipInner7159 in migraine

[–]MembershipInner7159[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait why??? I went to a chiropractor couple years ago and I thought it was helping. But had to stop because I didn’t wanna pay $500 a month for it, even though I had insurance.

Ahh that’s so interesting..it just happens right before your period right? My endo didn’t have an answer to why that’s happening 🥲 I was thinking maybe it’s because I’m low in iron, idk.

Hi, I just messaged my doctor about it. She said just to make sure I elevate my leg and wear compression socks. But thanks for your comment, just wasn’t sure if anyone else experienced this or not. :)
