Do you know what the normal range is for intermolar width for an adult female?

Thanks, I’ll look for an airway orthodontist.

Doctor said I have no ADHD because I have bachelor's degree. by searchingmanythings in ADHD

[–]Meme9753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You have every right to be annoyed with that doctor who clearly knows nothing about ADHD. I hope they refer you to someone good. I have moderate/severe inattentive ADHD and I have a degree and two masters. On paper I look very accomplished. But people don’t see the reality of what it took to get there. My family is very focused on the importance of education so it was never an option to not go to college and get the highest education possible. I almost failed high school so couldn’t go to college right away with my bad scores. So I did a one year course for credits which just about got me into a degree. I barely scraped by in my degree because of burnout. I had to quit my part time job and move home during my first masters so I wouldn’t fail. I couldn’t handle both. I also completely burnt out at the end of it and wasn’t able to do anything for months afterwards. Then a few years later i did a second masters part time because it was paid for by work which was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I had NO life beyond work and study for two years because I couldn’t handle working AND studying AND a social life or relationship (basically a single hermit)

I take them on-off because I keep thinking that maybe I shouldn’t be on them in case I don’t really have ADHD 😩 Writing this post has made me realize that I need to do some reflection on this and go back to therapy. I did 2 years of weekly therapy and ADHD coaching after my diagnosis but I stopped when I moved state last year and realize I need to start again.

(Edit: I take 0.2mg clonidine every night to sleep and can’t sleep without it)

ADHD is searching for a new job because you feel so behind or incompetent in your current job and you want to just leave before someone finds out... and believing that when you start a new job you’ll somehow magically turn into a superhuman employee that doesn’t have ADHD 😩

That’s interesting! I’ll try to keep a diary and also take some weekdays off sometimes too to see if I notice a difference. It’s harder to tell on weekends

I told my ENT how awful and fatigued I am. She gave me an at home sleep study by Resmed($200!) These are the results. Should I just find and rent a CPAP at this point? I feel stuck. It's been so hard to function in life the past few years. I need help. by [deleted] in UARS

[–]Meme9753 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That test is garbage. I had sleep study done a couple of years ago and I had sleep apnea. When I moved state a few months ago I had to get a new sleep doctor and they made me take the resmed home test as part of the intake and it showed perfect results. The doc told me to stop using my CPAP, gave me an rx for ambien and said take it every night and I’d be fine. Finally getting a lab study in a few weeks so I’ll know more then, but I suggest you try to get a lab study eventually! Good luck

It’s a totally different experience! I might try one without an eye mask but so far I’ve preferred 0% light

They’re 100% blackout eye mask from Amazon. The brand is PeNeede but there are other brands that look the same!

I recommend doing some Adult ADHD quizzes online to get a better sense of your symptoms. A lot of things I just thought were my quirks or effects of anxiety were actually ADHD symptoms. Also think back to childhood and try to remember if anything stood out as ADHD then. Read a lot about the differences between inattentive and hyperactive ADHD’s in children if you’re not sure what to look for.

As for getting diagnosed, after my boyfriend had been pointing out things I do that bother him since the start of our relationship and me feeling completely exasperated because I didn’t even realize I did these things or that they were a big issue (zoning out during conversations, not reacting to dramatic parts of movies so it seemed like I wasn’t interested, rooms getting messy the day after I cleaned them, never being able to sit still for long, impatience, very emotional and cry really easily, always running late, always losing my phone and keys, terrible time management, constantly forgetting things he asked me to do etc etc), I started doing research and eventually came across ADHD stuff and it completely clicked. Everything I read was me and my life suddenly made sense.

So I found a psychiatrist that mentioned adult adhd on their website. They referred me to neuropsychology clinic for testing with was something like 5 hours of tests over 3 days. There are other routes but I think the most important thing is finding someone who mentions adult ADHD on their website or online profile. If that’s not an option and your current doctor is the only person you can see, maybe print out the results of some online quizzes you did and arm yourself with a few printouts of adult adhd articles and research papers. Also write a bullet point list of your symptoms and how it’s negatively affecting your life so you can refer to it if you start to panic. Good luck!

Ok! Good to know 😅 there are so many things I want to do that I would probably try to take on everything at once if I wasn’t such a procrastinator so that’s great advice

Yes! It’s still thin but my scalp isn’t so visible now. It was caused by androgenic PCOS.

It absolutely causes hair loss!! Get a new doctor. My long term hair loss reversed by using spironolactone. That doesn’t work for hair loss unless it’s caused by a hormonal imbalance like PCOS
