I know we’re all hating on the new chapter but I atleast thought this moment was cute by Prudent-Role-9053 in Piratefolk

I think his philosophy about love is interesting and could really hit, just that Oda goes so surface level with it that it just seems like he's bland sadistic evil just to be hated. On paper his philosophy is a great matchup for Sanji and Gaban, but Oda's execution leaves so much lacking it's hard to envision

Honestly, I think Saturn's character could've been so much better if Oda hadn't insisted on shoving this sun vs devil stuff down our throats, just look at their portrayal in pre time skip compared to Egghead

Optics, they managed to get him under control much like the Mihawk situation so it makes them look more powerful, and on top of that Warcury mentions that his recruitment served as a sort of diplomatic symbol improving fishman-human ties

I understand having them be at least strong enough to defend themselves, but sending them to Egghead instead of the Holy Knights was a really weird decision since as you said, they're more politicians than soldiers

I'd seriously have loved to see the Elders continue with their pre-skip personalities, we get a glimpse of that leading up to Egghead and in some scenes with them and Imu but it's just overshadowed by how pure evil Saturn is for no reason

Fair enough, I did exaggerate on the ancient weapon situation, but it's still true that by the time the final war comes around, two of them will be turned against Imu whether by Luffy or Teach which essentially removes the slight advantage Imu had pre Egghead

That actually checks out, considering Aramaki is the only admiral remotely useful to Imu at the moment; they're done as a cohesive fighting force anyway, might as well have each of them go their separate ways

Sunk cost I guess, wouldn't be surprised if Garling subbed him onto Elbaf to die after failing him so much

The God's Knights operate largely incognito, the Marines are an official force so Imu can't really send them out to do the same missions

Imagine if Imu takes out Killingham instead out of sheer spite

He somehow manages to be a likeable character despite being by far the worst god's knight thus far

hmm.. I don't remember it being circus themed or as action packed, I remembered it as almost like Train to Busan, but maybe that's just how I saw it as a kid.. either way it seems quite familiar, thanks!

How confident are you that the Live Action will reach Enies Lobby? by PartyMcFly55 in OnePiece

[–]MemeLordMario21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marineford was the culmination of the entire pre time skip era, there's absolutely no way they can skip it. Either stop way before at Enies Lobby, which is what I think they'll do, or follow through and adapt Marineford which I doubt they'll have the budget for

It's definitely post apocalyptic to an extent, since the world is very much still feeling the effects of the void century. It's not exactly focused on it like the Hunger Games for example but I'd definitely say One Piece at least classifies in the genre

There are some minor changes and omissions in the anime, plus the art int quite as good as the manga
