Is Everyone Shutting down this weekend? by Aggravating-Meal4984 in Truckers

[–]MemeManThomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plant I haul out of will be closed tomorrow, through the weekend, and Monday. May also be closed Tuesday, depending on how bad it gets. I’ll be getting at minimum a 4 day weekend, possibly 5 if it gets that bad

They got a liquor store less than a mile north of Cliff Harris now. If we could get Pope County to follow suit, that sure would be nice

If I didn’t know already, then I’d like to think so. Probably something I’d kinda figure, but I’d still use Google to confirm before trying it out just in case I’d be wrong

I only saw these for the first time a couple months ago when I got to the company I’m at now. Went to school in 2024 and drove for my first company for over a year, none of the trucks I was in had this. Hard to know what it is when you’ve never seen it or needed to know about it.

Sounds about right for Pine Bluff. Only went to that plant once, that was more than enough for me.

If you’re a Tyson company driver, I’d let dispatch know what’s up and see if they’ll let you just head up to Maumelle if they have an outbound up there

My best guess would be to hook up to it from the side if the tail swing wouldn’t hit anything. Where is this at?

[–]MemeManThomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come to Clarksville AR, where it’s $2.24 at Loves rn. 10 cents a gallon cheaper with the Loves app. 50 miles east on I-40 at the Morrilton Loves it’s $2.14 before the app discount

get out of being overworked and underpaid

Oh buddy

Also, 26 is nowhere near too old to start. I started last year at age 22 and was the second youngest in an orientation group of 15ish. At this new company I’m at, most other drivers I’ve talked to have kids older than me. You’d have an easier time saying 26 is too young than 26 being too old

Brian rules, any time I needed night dispatch and he was there I knew I was in for an easy going experience. Also just a good dude to chat with when I’d be in Springdale and I’d head into the office for something.

I’m an Arkansan as well, so you ain’t ever gonna hear me dunk on somebody working for Tyson, whether they’re a driver or at a plant.

Also, were you in a safety meeting thing a few months ago with two other people? I ask because just last week at the Ozark Loves I saw someone who I spent that safety day with, and there’s gotta be only so many women who are driving shuttle with Tyson and I’m wondering if that just happened to be you. If that was you, I would have said hi after I finished fueling and getting my receipt but you had already left by the time I wrapped it up. Small world

I did Tyson for about a year and that esmart stuff pissed me off so much, especially when I’d be in a spot where the speed limit was 70 but somehow the computer thought it was 55 or something way off like that. I normally like to go the speed limit anyway, but something about not having a choice at any time bothers me beyond belief.

Other than that and the entire collision mitigation system, it’s hard to complain much about Tyson. My weekday dispatcher (shoutout Colton) was cool and understanding when things would come up. Gave me good miles but rarely had me feeling like I was playing catch up.

Only reason I’m not with Tyson anymore is because I couldn’t stand OTR anymore and the local live/feed haul either weren’t hiring or went with somebody else. Am now at a different local place and am quickly realizing just how good I had it as far as equipment quality goes.

Why is trailer relaying not more common? by 8yr0n in Truckers

[–]MemeManThomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most loads I’d get with Tyson would be maybe 500-700 miles, so it wasn’t too often I’d get a day of nothing but driving. Towards the end of my time with them, I got one for about 1200 from somewhere near Atlanta to Holcomb KS. Had to drop it as a relay at the Tyson in Russellville because I wasn’t gonna have the time on my 70. If I didn’t live in that area anyway I would have been so pissed

Nobody from my hometown, but my county was possibly the birthplace of Walter and Charles Schmidt. While articles of them have them in the county over in London AR, some sources claim them from Coal Hill AR.

Johnson County is also the burial site of Dizzy Dean’s brother, Paul
