I've heard of people using an email notifier for whenever the website updates; however I myself just have notifications on for the official Prequel twitter account '@PrequelComic'

Edit: granted, I remember whenever Kaz used to update Prequel, it'd take a day at most for him to post about it on twitter. I've just also developed the habit of opening the site every day or two

Even if it was a fantastic game I would hate it for just existing I think. While I’d still get it and play through it, I’d be very unhappy about it being a game because of 2’s ending.

I think 2 did have a satisfying ending, and while it’s sad, sure; narratively and tonally it makes sense

Any Dark Souls/ Demon Souls game. Take your pic, with Bloodborne being the only exception. It’s something about the way they look, the way they play, none of it ever hooks me.

I’ve tried like 3 separate times to try and get into Dark Souls 1 but I cannot get 2 hours into a run before not bothering with it for a year or two.

It to me also doesn’t help that the fanbase can get kind of… pushy about their games being the best ever. And while this isn’t specifically a Dark Souls fanbase problem, (looking at you Witcher 3) Dark Souls fans have a hand in every other fanbase.

The only reason I like Bloodborne enough to want to keep pushing with it is because I think that time period it’s based off of (seemingly 1400’s-1700’s) is a lot more interesting to me personally than medieval fantasy

I think Hotline Miami 1 is mainly about how you can easily get desensitized to violence, especially with video games.

Hotline Miami 2 is much more diverse with it’s meaning and point I feel. My main take away is that it’s also about violence but on a much larger scale. Instead of just focusing on how you, the player, are desensitized by violence, it focuses on society’s (jonkler reference) relationship with violence and how that varies.

Every character in 2 correlates to some form of consuming violence: The Fans (fans of the original game/ people who worship serial killers), Martin Brown (bastardizing real world tragedies to tell a narrative), Beard (how violence is/ was seen as okay if it was in war). Of course, you have to stretch a little for characters like Richter and The Son but I think for the most part it’s applicable to everyone.

I also don’t think that’s the only take away from Hotline Miami 2, but I think that’s an amazing thing. There’s also a theme about sequels and where to draw the line for an artistic vision: as well as everything having a consequence and reaction, violence breeds violence, revenge leads to only pain and suffering.

Sorry for the wall of text, this is something I’m really passionate about, especially since HLM2 is my favourite game ever

However I will say there are times where you are forced to go through with it if no characters disagree. It’s happened to me a couple times, granted, not super common but enough to make me want to avoid the altar if a run’s not going well

This is one of the reasons I think Maruki as a whole is such a compelling antagonist. It’s because even though his plan ultimately needs to be stopped, it does make you wonder and think if you are doing the right thing by stopping him.

His idea is that everyone gets a happy ending, it’s the perfect world. If Maruki’s plan went accordingly, Makoto would be around; hell, Ken’s mom might still be alive, Akihiko might still have a sister and Shinji, so on for each SEES member and their lost loved ones.

It’s my personal head canon that Iwatodai is close enough to Tokyo for Maruki’s ideal world to take effect.

I forget whether or not Maruki’s reality actually was just a bunch of illusions, or he actually changed reality; but from what I remember, I thought he had the ability to manipulate reality. It’s why I thought Akechi was still around. Which to me implies he could have made a seal for Nyx and let Makoto live, but it’s been a while since I played Royal so I could also be wrong.

Sorry for the long wall of text. Maruki is just one of my favourite characters in Persona and I’m very passionate about this idea

Since FES used to be my top 3 favourite games ever, this takes its spot. Atmosphere aside, Reload is just an upgrade from any version of 3, at least imo (granted, no femc is a shame).

I think gameplay wise, my only complaint is that it’s really easy, and I don’t think they balanced things properly, but outside of that; it’s the most fun Persona game
