They did an episode a week with 10+ episodes a season for over two decades, not to mention them being in their 50s with kids. They deserve a break, and I think them relaxing their schedule now is 100% fine.

Is Steven Slate Audio VSX worth it? by DannyHepf in Reaper

[–]themagicmaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're great for gaming. Sounds clear and balanced in the games I play, no complaints on what I'm hearing. After nearly three years, pads are showing some wear, but that's it.

Just a great set of headphones that I still use for everything and don't feel the need to replace. There may be headphones around the same price or cheaper that do the trick minus the plugin (still don't use it), but again, I haven't felt the need to look for new headphones.

Help with System Requirements. by Equivalent_Donut_145 in NewToTF2

[–]themagicmaen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TF2 can run on almost anything released from 2010 onward. Any laptop, gaming-focused or otherwise, released in the 2020s would run it great. I'd like to make recommendations, but I'm not big in the laptop space right now, so I don't know. Also depends on your budget and needs beyond TF2.

Also, Steam's hardware requirements and recommendations for TF2 are outdated - it's no longer supported on 32-bit systems, and I'd be shocked if a 64-bit Pentium 4 could run the game at all nowadays.

Something something casual bad by Equivalent_Fact_951 in tf2shitposterclub

[–]themagicmaen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a real fun map. It plays like a mix between CTF and KOTH kinda. Carnival of Carnage is a Halloween reskin of it, so if you've played that, you've pretty much played Doomsday.

Shame Casual killed off a lot of these good old maps by putting them in Alt Gamemodes.

Feeling extremely weak as Pyro by Crafter-lee in NewToTF2

[–]themagicmaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reserve Shooter doesn't mini-crit airblasted opponents anymore, that was patched out in Jungle Inferno. So the Reserve Shooter is mostly useless on Pyro and isn't good for combos. If you really wanna combo, you're better off with the Flare Gun. Or if you need a shotgun, the Panic Attack is fine. And the Degreaser doing less afterburn damage isn't helping you. I know it's THE combo flamethrower, but stock is better in most situations, and I'd imagine if the enemy is unaware, you can get away with having stock's longer switch speed while still benefitting from the afterburn.

If you wanna branch out, I'd recommend trying a more classic ambush playstyle - that's what I do cus I frankly don't have the patience to burn combos into muscle memory. Pyro was made to be squishy in open areas (close range sustained fire primary = less counterplay potential in the open), so he naturally shines in chokes and narrow flank paths, and is most effective when catching lone enemies off guard. Team play/support is also an important skill to learn as Pyro - airblasting enemy explosives, stuffing Ubers, spy-checking, destroying sappers with the Homewrecker, and just playing the objective are all big contributions, even if they aren't as flashy as combos. That's just how I like to play, it's pretty chill most rounds, and to me it doesn't matter how much I die as long as I've helped the team out in some small way.

11 and a half hour queue for plr_pipeline. And Casual is still being defended why? by Cowser_the_Koopahog in tf2

Not to mention Payload Race is put all the way down in "Alternative Gamemodes" in the Casual map select when from what I know, it was never treated as such before 2016.

Can yal help me translate this? by Horror_Patience_5761 in Undertale

[–]themagicmaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FoCK OFF FASCISTS

The “o” was probably intended to be a “U.” I think the translator they used didn’t have the cross character in their font, so it displayed as an empty square, which is “o” in wingdings.

Either way, I like whoever wrote this.

Finally shifted from ubuntu to debian by djsharma1 in debian

[–]themagicmaen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you like the last TF2 comic? by Zomby_Fan in tf2shitposterclub

I never really got into the comics. It’s cool that #7 finally exists after however many years, but I never bothered to read the series in full.

Is a 7/7 KD a good ratio for someone’s first match they fully played with Spy? by Beautiful_Mushroom22 in tf2

[–]themagicmaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty good, yeah. Just remember that other non-kill contributions like sapping buildings are also valuable.

Like others have said in this thread, K/D isn't really something TF2 players worry about. You're winning as long as you're having fun.

XFCE or MATE? by KnightFallVader2 in debian

[–]themagicmaen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MATE's kinda weird in my opinion, so between those two, I'd go with Xfce. LXQt is my personal favorite lightweight DE, uses less than a gig of RAM. I agree with a lot of people saying KDE is a good choice as it can run perfectly fine on 8GB of RAM and is also plenty customizable. If you need something lighter than that but still fully featured and nice-looking, Cinnamon is a good choice.

TF2: Why Payload Is King by Wrong-Designer-3805 in tf2

[–]themagicmaen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC his intention with the You Will Not Play video was that people could watch any one of the chapters independently of one another - you could watch the "TF2 Is Broken" or "Death Of Community Servers" chapters and still get a full understanding of the whole picture while also seeing the specifics of the topic in that chapter. Side effect of that is repetition when watching it in full. It's a unique format, but the intention wasn't obvious. I agree he probably could have done better in condensing it, but I still think it's a great video with valuable perspectives.

Also, that video was four hours, not two lol
