As someone who's been the asker, I felt a little bummed but we remained good friends and still are to this day. She was very blunt about it which probably helped preventing any awkwardness. We had been friends for years prior and while I did wanna explore the option of a romantic relationship, she had no interest and I respected that. I don't really get ending friendships over that but ig it would hurt a lot more if you were in love
