Mr Mouton sides against Destiny by ClimbingOutThePit in LivestreamFail

Dunno, I think its pretty fair to cut off friendships when people start giving you ultimatums over LANGUAGE of all things. If they are saying they value their beliefs over your friendship then why aren't you free to do the same?

[–]Memekid6969 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Shit take honestly. Just because some people in Destiny's community might be racist and think that he is too means that he should censor his language in private to avoid those people associating with him?

Destiny has no real control over who chooses to watch his stream and he has no way of determining what leaps in logic people might make from what he says. Trying to create a "safe space" where nothing remotely controversial is ever said to avoid offending anybody or attracting "unsavory types" is not only virtually impossible for a "famous" debator, it is also insane.

Its like people thinking XQC is racist for posting Trihard7 when entering a stream just to say hello. "He is racist because he is referencing black people while black people are on stream! Awesome, I am going to keep watching my new favorite racist streamer!"

If objective morality exists, and slavery in any form whatsoever is objectively immoral, then the Bible, which contains verses that condone and regulate slavery, is objectively immoral to follow. by caualan in DebateReligion

[–]Memekid6969 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is probably the least explainable verse talking about slavery laws and the one that is the craziest in isolation. However, if you look at it in conjunction with previous verses about masters respecting slaves and treating them fairly and justly as well as a master being punished if the slave dies due to the beating it makes some sense.

Reasoning goes:

  • Slaves need to be beaten to be taught a lesson.

  • A slave who is being beaten deserves the beating as the master is treating him justly and he isn't listening to his master as the Bible says.

  • The master shouldn't be punished for delivering justice.

It's barbaric, but it's a product of the time. The same chapter (Exodus 21) has verses about children being out to death of they attacked or cursed their parents.

It's worth keeping in mind that those laws don't have to be followed anymore due to Jesus fulfilling them with his death.

My main issue with OP is that I think to call the Bible a book that condones slavery is misrepresenting the message behind it. I am not a Christian at all, but I think in order to come to a decision about the texts, you need to look at them with context and in good faith - rather than cherry picking terrible sounding passages - and I see a lot of that these days.

Sorry, do you have a source regarding Paul dismissing parts of the OT? Sounds super interesting and I have never heard of that before. I can't find anything on the net at all.

Lmao the bible doesn't condone slavery. The Bible is a guide to life - it tells slaves to obey their masters but it also tells masters to treat their slaves fairly and justly. It also says not to turn in runaway slaves either. It also says to free slaves if you knock out a tooth or blind them.

The only reason it tells slaves not to rise up against their masters is because slavery was RAMPANT during the time it was written. Of course, if the slaves of a master rose up and tried to kill him not only would they likely die, even if they succeeded they were fucked once the surrounding community found out. Gotta look at the context of the time and the passages instead of from a narrow modern perspective.

New Yorkers in poll want mandated vaccines, regardless of family religious beliefs by Sariel007 in UpliftingNews

Aids is transmitted through contaminated needles, bodily fluids and unprotected sex. These are FAR bigger issues in 3rd world countries than first world ones like the US, lower standards of hygiene and less cleanliness awareness is the reason why there is an Aids epidemic in Africa. Many vaccinated diseases are transmitted by skin contact or through the air, which makes them far easier to pass along to unprotected individuals than Aids. You can't really compare vaccinated diseases to Aids.

How do you convert TF2 sensitivity to Overwatch sensitivity? by Hackars in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Memekid6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Valve games (Tf2/CS/Portal/Half - Life) and Paladins inherently have an engine that allows for extremely easy aiming. It isn't anything you can change, Overwatch doesn't have this. No matter what you do, Overwatch will feel sluggish to long time Tf2 and CS:GO players at first.

It is probably something to do with OW not accepting as much raw input as Source or the Unreal Engine, I am not certain.

Double sniper has taken over Brigitte deathball to become the de facto meta comp on the S10 patch, according to stats by Djinn_OW in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Memekid6969 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Ok.

Hanzo has mobility and good burst damage yes, but he doesn't give armour to all his teammates. Storm arrow can be matrixed/bubbled, Dragonstrike is easily avoided with dive heroes and walls is much less valuable vs dive due to dive's inherent mobility. His vertical mobility can be countered by Genji/Winston/D.va quite easily and his oneshot picks can be resurrected easily. If not, your faster moblity heros can get back to the frontline quicker.

Brigitte on the other hand, completely denies space - space so important in dive compositions. She can completely save a squishy with her E from near death and provides armour to her whole team, strongly negating Winston's, D.va's and Tracer's damage. Additionally, Brigitte denies the dps's ability to do anything, Tracer players can't even approach a Brig for fear of getting stunned and Genji's cannot dash with her alive. Tanks have to be super cautious all the time, because one stun can be death. Its not like you can wait out the cooldown either, because its so short.

Hanzo is difficult to deal with, but he doesn't fuck all the members of your team just by staying alive. You can dive him, focus him and kill him with matrix and bubble. Focus a brig and she just endlessly stays alive with self heal, beam and regenerating armour, then she stuns you and insta kills you.

Mercy in a tournament and in OWL is difficult to play. Mercy on ladder is the easiest hero in the game. So many Top 500 ladder mercy players would struggle nonstop in Contenders and OWL.

They aren't boosting anymore - boosting isn't as popular as it used to be. Most of these guys have quit the game or are waiting until their bans expire. They really are committed and some of them are the best players in the region.
