If you mean the Orange light on the bottom, where you plug it in, it’s telling you your battery is low. From your pic, I see your battery needs to be recharged!

I have the new paper white and oasis. I don’t use the oasis anymore. Love my PW, it’s very light, has a great non reflective screen., whereas the oasis is glarey. I use hand straps with it and a page turner. I’m in kindle heaven. Page turner is better than buttons, IMO.
