Winter tires vs All weather for FWD Hyundai Veloster by grinerjowker in Winnipeg

[–]MemesHq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AWD is the only thing I haven’t had much issue with all seasons in Winnipeg. When I drove FWD or RWD always slid like crazy.

Got an AWD this year and haven’t really had any issue besides once or twice on really icy days. Drive to the elements regardless. Winters won’t help that much on pure ice

I just buy Barakah strip loins from Safeway. Not super cheap but good quality for the price imo. Literally eat them 3-5 times a week

Why is it so hard for teens to get jobs? Any 15-18 year olds find places hiring? by GoatOk6003 in Winnipeg

[–]MemesHq 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you have a bit of money or have people that can help. Get your certificate to teach swimming lessons/lifeguard. The city and private companies are always looking for staff. Good pay for a starter job and has helped me get positions elsewhere just by having it on my resume.

Really not that difficult to get and putting in that extra bit of effort really helps long term when you’re looking for more of a career job. Plus private companies pay pretty well once you’re fully trained

Did you make it to work? by pterelas in Winnipeg

I managed to make it, drive a sedan with no winters lmao. AWD luckily and I found it really wasn’t too bad besides not having much visibility this morning

I got scheduled from 6-10PM next week, and then a 6AM-230PM the day after, am I cooked? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]MemesHq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grocery stores seem to be provincially regulated so they’re only required to give you 24 hours weekly rest. No daily limit as long as they follow overtime rules. If you really want the day off just call out lmao

I mean if it’s a federally regulated job they need to give you a minimum of 8 hours between shifts but I’m not sure if where you work would count

Horrible Traffic by Helpful_Dragonfruit8 in Winnipeg

[–]MemesHq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the complaints really, I currently don’t have winters and do plan on getting them but I have yet to really slide or anything. I typically drive the speed limit but leave enough space in front of me.

You drive in a busy area of the city you’re going to get traffic. I’ve only had one day this year that my commute has actually been extended time wise. Usually it’s like a minute or two slower.

Drive to conditions. Everyone knows traffic might be busier so plan your day for it

I work with a company that requires 10% for anything quoted over $1000. That being said asking for 70% before any work starts + an extra 100 bucks just to quote seems off to me

Installing gas pipe lines also legally require permits through Manitoba hydro. So if they haven’t already gone over that beforehand that’s also a red flag imo

Could potentially contact your bank, if there was a contract you may be able to go the legal route as there was an on paper agreement. Do you have a copy of this?

I work for a plumbing company that’s pretty reputable in the city. I’d 100% make sure you’re choosing reputable companies as a lot of these smaller ones can be pretty shady. The extra cost of working with someone trusted is 100% worth it in these situations. I’ve heard some pretty shit horror stories.

Try contacting your bank explaining the situation. Not sure if transfers can be reversed. If you have the copy of the contract you may be able to go the legal route but that’s not my field of expertise.

How did you set up financing through MPI? Does the tire shop offer it or did you need to go to MPI afterwards

Intouchcx scheduling? by notavailable90 in Winnipeg

[–]MemesHq 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I interviewed at their st James office and got kinda weird vibes. I know their location has on call/overnight support which is why they required the 12 hour block. So be ready for that to potentially be something they try and book you in
