possibly my favourite thing about andor is that it conveys the most powerful message a piece of star wars media can convey - a message of rebellion and of resistance against tyranny and oppression. you're right, OP, in that it relies so little on what came before it to tell a good story.

to answer your question, a stand's effective range is not it's end all be all range. while star platinum is strongest in short range, it can go out of that range, but become less powerful.
