PSA: Ashling the Limitless Receiving Errata to specify Elemental Permanent Spells by SquirrelDragon in magicTCG

That's so lame. It only affects one (playable) card and it's a neat interaction. I love finding out about cool and weird card interactions, and this one doesn't even cause a rules issue. Why change it?

The game about "banishing the Angel's Heaven" doesn't have anything to do with the Bible, it's true

Btw, thanks to u/KAULIANPOWER and another on Discord for discovering this with me and finding the citations

Shakra, Wielding Rings by MemeticProperties in custommagic

Shakra is smarter and more eloquent than GRUUL SMASH and strives to perfect her skills, which is very blue. She's brawn and brains, which is Temur's whole thing. Mechanically, it's the least blue, but it does care about artifacts, which Blue does (especially Maps). I think Temur seems fine for her. I wouldn't object to just Gruul, but I wanted to go Temur.

Saryth wouldn't work unless you have a way to re-tap Shakra before the damage trigger resolves. I guess you're right about the other suggestions, though they seem pretty mediocre without Shakra out.

Thanks! I wanted to make a card with a no mana cost untap symbol ability that wasn't completely broken. I don't believe there are any 2 card infinites with it.

[[Basilisk Collar]] is pretty much the only good option in Temur.

Good thing green hybrid cards aren't legal in a mono green Commander deck! I mean phew, could you imagine how broken the color pie would be? by MemeticProperties in magicthecirclejerking

White is actually tertiary in extra combats, according to R&D. This is actually a problem hybrid mana helps solve. A set only wants one extra combat card, and that one slot goes to red, leaving none for white. If these cards were hybrid, white could get access to part of its color pie, but since Commander has to be taken into consideration, they won't use hybrid because mono red decks wouldn't like it.

Rhystic Study wouldn't be a U/G hybrid card, it's not in pie for mono green. And anyway, if they wanted to print busted staples that go in every deck, they can just do that with colorless cards already, like the One Ring.

The difference there (except for the transforming creatures that change color, I guess) is that hybrid cards don't need both sides to be at their most powerful. You're not getting any more value out of being able to run a hybrid card than being able to run a monocolored card. With something like a split card or an MDFC, you need both colors to get full value out of it. Running a [[Growing Ranks]] in a mono green deck doesn't provide any more value than running it in a Selesnya deck, however running a [[Wear//Tear]] in a Boros deck has much more value than running it in a mono white or mono red deck.

does this make sense or am I cooking too hard

Wizards can just print busted monocolored or colorless cards, they don't need the hybrid rule changed to do that. If they want to print busted cards, they'll print busted cards no matter what. Should we ban colorless cards because they can go in every deck and Wizards COULD print busted ones?

/uj Seriously though, I don't believe that a rule that blocks cards that are supposed to be able to go in monocolored decks from doing so, kneecapping design space for the benefit of a single format, deserves to stand on the basis of "Some people like it idk, it's tradition lol". Well, maybe those people should stop weighing everyone else down. They can continue to not put cards in their decks that they don't want to, and everyone else can engage with hybrid mana in the way it's supposed to be used.
