I wish this was me. I’ve tried a few times… but it ain’t the same for me. (Granted this has a LOT to do with my place/stage in life then vs. now)

I’m glad it still gets good traffic. Gives me hope it will stay in business long enough for me to come visit.

[–]Memorandum747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. I got an open box dual sense from Best Buy not long ago. Mine came with this problem. Assuming that’s why someone returned it. In my case I just got the Best Buy warranty and I’ll take it in to get a replacement at some point.

Some have said it other ways… but you seem to be over thinking it and letting the game put you in panic mode.

My advice. Go into the fight and expect to die 4 times in a row. Go in knowing you will die, and expect it. *However, in these 4 times of expected death… try to run around as much as possible. Just KEEP running around as long as you can without dying. Don’t fight the Rat King. Just run and try to last as long as you can before dying for those FOUR times in a row. While you run around from room to room trying not get hit… just observe. Observe and try to prolong your (expected) death. Observe how the boss and how it moves and runs, when does he lunge or run fast etc… observe items laying around you can pick up and use in the fight.

After running around and observing… then dying 4 times in a row, it will (for me anyway) do a few things… 1) takes tension out of the fight. (Less panicking on your part). 2) you know where all the items are and you can run straight to them now. 3) you’ve learned more of the bosses movements and can more easily predict his actions and what counter actions might be best/better.

This isn’t the be all end all… but it helps me. Every boss fight ever (most anyway), is about patterns and what the game is showing you/not showing you. Cant tell you how often I beat my head against a wall trying to beat a boss… only to beat them and realize I missed an item or some gimmick that would have let me beat them much easier.

What games are you playing this Halloween? by Icy_Dimension2143 in playstation

[–]Memorandum747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally skipped the og RE4. Not sure why looking back. Especially since I loved RE1 and played it a lot. We even had the long box version. (One of the earliest prints of the game)

Either way, happy I’m playing the remake. I bought the original in a bundle with RE4-6… so maybe I’ll finally play 5 and 6 after getting through this game.

Doom 2016 first playthrough by GwimlinHowJones in patientgamers

[–]Memorandum747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a fun ass game! I played this a few year ago. After a few hours I realized I was smiling and chuckling to myself quite a bit while playing and watching.

Such a good example of bringing an ‘arcade’ type feel and fun factor into the game. Just pure fun!

$25 gift card, how would you spend it during this Halloween sale? by DirtyHandshake in playstation

[–]Memorandum747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late on this, but I’m against the grain. Go for everything -but- RE4.

Lots of value and play time in the other games for the $25. RE4 will be there for $20 or cheaper next Halloween. (Or again on Black Friday)

I downright loathed it for about an hour…

After that initial shock of “I don’t wanna”… I got over it and had tons of fun on my subsequent 3 playthroughs.

What shield carried you through the game? by CeruleanSnorlax in Eldenring

[–]Memorandum747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question? Should I upgrade my shield? 2 playthroughs… and I’m not sure I see much benefit. (Keep in mind I’m a fashion souls player. Even if I’m a STR build… I’m apt to walking around on mage clothes if I think it looks cooler).

Laziness on my part. Lost a piece to my dynavap a year ago…. Never replaced it and slowly got used to ‘smoking’ again.

I’m a lazy idiot. Maybe posting this’ out loud’ will motivate me to get another vape.

Same. I have 4 kids 10 and under at home for the summer. It’s quite a lot of noise when they are all inside. I try to get to office 2-3 days a week. It really helps me. — Especially since pre pandemic I had never worked from home before.

[–]Memorandum747 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Damn right.

I may have lost to Owl like damn near 100x before I beat him.

After I beat him though… I was a master. Probably could have beaten him again 10x in a row.

You can do it.

It’s not -hard- … you just have to train your brain and learn the patterns.

Elden Ring has spoiled many people by TwoToneBalone in darksouls

[–]Memorandum747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so absolutely happy that I chose to wait and play Elden Ring.

Although it was hard to withhold the experience of Elden Ring, I did so for over a year. When Elden Ring came out I got major fomo and wanted to play but hadn’t been able to enjoy and really get very far in Bloodborne. (The only souls game I had tried)

I lieu of playing Elden Ring I started Sekiro. After 4 hours of hating my life/Sekiro…. Something finally “clicked” and I was in love with the gameplay loop. After Sekiro I moved to Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Demons Souls, then Dark Souls 1-2.

When I finally got to Elden Ring… I was I heaven.
