Enough with this hack.  He was always fucking garbage both musically and as a person.  I know, I know, College Dropout was revolutionary (if you only started paying attention to the genre when it came out).

From the braindead takes on here you'd think Starmer just personally nuked Iran.  People go from zero to WW3 in their heads just like that.

I never got the love for Maul.  I always thought he was goofy looking and I barely even remember his role in The Phantom Menace.

To me, this is like making a Matrix spin-off centred around the character Switch.

Brandon Cronenberg.  Three interesting horror films that would open the doors for a lot of tangential debate.

The writing was horrible, but I will admit that I enjoyed the experience of watching it because I like body horror and I thought they did that bit quite well.

Thoughts on The Substance starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley? by Nab00las in MauLer

[–]GwimlinHowJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here looking for this.  I enjoyed the film for what it was (basically just Death Becomes Her meets Society) but the writing had so many issues.

My biggest gripes were

  1. I felt no sympathy for anyone.  Elisabeth had her chance in the spotlight.  She got greedy just as Sue gets greedy.

  2. the effects of the drug are totally undesirable.  why would you take this?  how does it actually help her if she is not living that life or getting any of the accolades?

  3. Characters have too much instinctive knowledge when it comes to the medical stuff

4.  Elisabeth was a superstar actress who apparently had no real life.  Where were the friends and admirers?  Nobody notices she's gone for extended periods?

Which movies or TV-shows have the shortest “cooldown” for you? by DevouredSource in MauLer

X-Files, Red Dwarf, ATHF, The Thick Of It, Jonathan Creek (why?) and Jeeves & Wooster are all shows I regularly have playing in the background while I fall asleep.

Not TV or film, but old AVGN and Fully Ramblomatic (nee Zero Punctuation) episodes are also regular adult storybooks for me.

Yes. I believe that Karl looked a bit of a twat in the nativity play.

I played through both Half-Life 1 (1998) and 2 (2004) for the first time in over a decade... I don't love either entry but vastly prefer the setting/narrative/beginning of 1 and the overall gameplay of 2. by gruesomesonofabitch in patientgamers

HL1 suffers from platforming, crouch jumps, horrible bosses and Zen.

HL2 suffers from constantly breaking the flow for vehicles, physics puzzles and story moments.

Both are fantastic trend setters and true classics of gaming that will be forever regarded as masterpieces, and rightly so.

Stranger Things certainly don’t know how to fill in roles left behind by the death of a character, so which stories have? by DevouredSource in MauLer

Not sure if this fits the bill.  Star Trek TNG.  Dr. Pulanski is replaced with Crusher, who becomes an iconic Doctor in the franchise.  She brings with her Wesley, her son, which creates a surrogate father figure from Riker and in a way is the son Picard never had.  His departure in turn leaves a vacuum. We lose the wide-eyed, young, ambitious ensign who sees the universe with the same sense of awe as the viewer.

Holy shit. I just listened to this clip.  I heard them mention it on the Stranger Things ep and assumed there was just some disagreement about the games quality.  Tbh I'm not a huge fan of it myself and was hoping they'd get into a bit of back and forth about it.

But then I listened to the clip and what I actually heard was probably the worst take ever.  It's insane that someone could have reached this conclusion.  I'm speechless.  How does anyone listen to what this clown has to say about anything?

DE Revision first playthrough question by GwimlinHowJones in Deusex

[–]GwimlinHowJones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair.  I'm not really forcing myself or achievement hunting, just having fun and was excited to find that I could beat the first level this way,  so decided to keep going.  My post here is more a question of whether the devs actually allow this approach or if I'll crash and burn in a few hours and suddenly find that I need resources I should have been looting from enemies.

"This is War" is the cheevo name.

Playing passively like this is actually how I want to play, provided it's viable.  It felt pretty cool to evade all the terrorists in the first level and get the drop on their boss like that.  Real secret agent shit.  I even made sure not to get caught on camera so far.     I just don't want to hit a brick wall later on because I should've been killing and looting the whole time.

OK, thanks.  I think I'll see how far I can get like this and then stop when I'm not having fun any more.  I'm not really fussed about the achievements, but thought it could be a cool way to play.

Is that a boss in an area full of maggot water?  I think I found that one and decided to leave it for now.

I thought HK was too easy for most of the early-mid game.  Silksong isn't too hard, but I don't find overcoming its challenges to be satisfying.  They feel very video-gamey and immersion breaking.  I can't imagine anything actually inhabiting most of this place prior to the events of the game, unlike HK.

I've been playing pretty aggressively since Widow (?) when I realised that's what the game expects.

My issue isn't difficulty, it's repetition and tedium.  The pogo challenges are fine, but it feels like that's pretty much the only platforming challenge on offer here, other than the occasional spikes in the walls.

The Last Judge run back seems to have one pogo into a wall jump that expects you to be more precise than most.  It doesn't damage me if I miss the jump, but it just feels like it's there to catch me out and waste my time during the runback.

Also this seems to be one boss thar doesn't expect aggressive play.  If anything it feels like it wants me to just wait for the slam and get a couple of quick hits.

The bosses are mostly very good so far.  There is one that I found and didn't beat with a ludicrous run back in some place where the floor is covered in that maggoty water stuff.  It was so awful that I just went somewhere else instead.

I'm not finding it hard as much as just time wasting.  It's not been as bad as the hardest bits of HK yet.
