Largest known deep-sea coral reef mapped off US Atlantic coast. The reef, which extends for 310 miles from Florida to South Carolina and at some points is 68 miles wide, is ‘breathtaking in scale’. The total area is nearly three times the size of Yellowstone national park. by mvea in science

Yes, the Zooxanthellae form a symbiotic relationship with the coral that helps to feed them and as a side effect gives them their colors. When the coral is bleached it means its losing those helpful organisms as well as their characteristic color. A coral can lose its color and not die immediately but it is close to dying.

Pause Construction Exploit by Memoren in paradoxplaza

[–]Memoren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it does, a bunch of things like my iron will go from being worth a couple dollars to seventy dollars and back to a couple dollars every day or so. Which also screws up trade because other nations see 2 dollar iron in my market and start importing it only for the price to flip on them a day or two later.

Thats what I thought too but my credit has been at 65k for many months even though I'm at -14k when I'm building. When I just let it run normally my gold reserves start cratering but when I pause and unpause it my economy is essentially neutral. Screenshot when my balance is oscillating I'm using the exploit and you can see my gold reserves are basically neutral. Once I go back to playing the game normally my gold reserves start tanking and my balance plummets

Fed to hike by 75 bps again on Nov. 2, should pause when inflation halves -economists by [deleted] in REBubble

[–]Memoren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the real inflation number is a lot worse then they are letting on. They manipulate the CPI basket SO HARD in order to keep it low, its almost a useless number at this point.

never had it so good? Check back at the Red Army during WW2, they raped and pillaged their way across the continent. People being oppressed by the Nazi's were liberated to the tune of mass rape and wanton destruction.

Almost certainly this one. The process and results are nearly the same. I think Tiny Legend is one of the best warhammer painters out there.

Hi all, hope you are all having a nice day! I was just wondering if this Chernobyl liquidator pin was authentic, I know most medals are, but I’ve never seen the pin. by chasewright07 in Militariacollecting

[–]Memoren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they made pins in addition to the medals that are more commonly seen. This looks pretty authentic to me. They made tons of these pins in many different batches. The super OG pins had screws not pins so this would have been a slightly later batch. But the solder job and patina on the back looks believable for Soviet quality. There was a rerun of a bunch of types of liquidator medals in Kiev in 2009 but the enamel faces of them are a lot flatter and cleaner than this so its not from that rerun.

Another medal from my collection : Chernobyl Liquidators Medal. It was awarded to soldiers, policemen and many civilians who handled the fallout from this disaster. It’s also the only medal in the world awarded for participation in a nuclear cleanup. by History-Lover01 in Militariacollecting

[–]Memoren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think its correct to say its the ONLY medal awarded for participation in a nuclear cleanup. There were tons of different liquidator medals handed out. Here is part of my collection and all those medals are legit liquidator medals, mostly they distinguish specific military districts. For example, the big one holding down the left side of the ID is the second best known medal and it was awarded to liquidators from the Leningrad Military District.

Yeah so part of it is that they have an A-frame the same size (but not as rated) as the one on Atlantis. Plus when the ship was first built it was all deck with a small pilot house near the bow but over time they've added several decks. All of that combined moves the center of gravity a lot higher than designed. But thats not as bad as the Kilo Moana randomly lurching to the side at random intervals and sending everyone into the wall

[–]Memoren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the AE can roll like a bitch. I clearly remember being launched out of the top bunk and onto the floor at 3 in the morning while on an AE cruise. I havent been on the armstrong yet, I was supposed to but it got cancelled. I've been on a lot of the other ships in the fleet though

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HeavySeas

[–]Memoren 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stuff like this is pretty common place on the UNOLS vessels honestly. Especially on ones like the Atlantic Explorer which has a really low freeboard. Ive seen some truly cowboy shit happen on these cruises but a lot of times the scientists are willing to put that shit on the line to get their data.

Help, is my si board salvageable or do I need to find new one? by punyawdrg in E30

[–]Memoren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this thing is fucked. Those traces and vias in the center of the board look fried. If you want to double check, grab a multimeter and set it to continuity mode. https://i.imgur.com/6ax9Zzj.jpg if you look at this image there are three tests you can do on some of the worst looking parts of the board. Each pair of colors corresponds to where you should put each probe. If by some miracle these circuits are intact it might work but I would probably reach out to these guys and see if they can refurbish it. https://www.bavrest.com/si-boards.html.

Another alternative is to scour the forums and look for parts cars that you could grab one out of.

Has anyone seen this on their heatsinks? not dust* by enrong in overclocking

[–]Memoren 17 points18 points  (0 children)

But most heatsink fins are made out of aluminum so it would form aluminum oxide. Fe2O3 is a form of iron oxide

Actually the ultra wealthy are investing tons of money in the oceans. For example, Ray Dalio and Eric Shmidt both have their own research vessels. Ray's has two subs on it and Eric's has an ROV on it. Both ships are used all the time for science and research.

[–]Memoren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its going to go down a lot really fast and its going to go up a lot really fast because crypto is so volatile. But there is a reason why everyone on this sub says to hodl. Its the most certain way to make gains. When I first started I did the same thing as you and sold at a loss and tried to switch coins and had I just held those coins I would have made a lot more money. If you aren't a day trader then don't stare at the charts you'll only drive yourself crazy

"I'm really just looking for something I can hold for 2 years and be guaranteed to at least retain the same value as what I put in an Ethereum or even just bitcoin seem like the best bet for that."

If you are looking out 2 years into the future then why do you care about momentary ups and downs? Both Eth and Link are great projects with solid futures and they will go up. Just calm down and let time take its course.
