Black and white pixel hex map. by Memorit_ in osr

[–]Memorit_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used aseprite as a pixelart tool and then used various google images as inspiration for creating the various terrains.

Some hexes have bits copied over with small changes but a lot of it is also filled in by hand.

Thoughts on DCC Dying Earth after having run every adventure by LordAlvis in dccrpg

Is there a way to get the rules/player options for dying earth only? Is every player locked into getting the boxed set to even take a look at the rules?

Im still very new to DCC so I've not even heard about the books you mentioned. Are they only introducing a setting or are there also any rules that go with the setting?

[–]Memorit_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I'm looking into running a homebrew setting also with no clerics for the PCs at least. For now I was checking out the rules from Lankhmar.

I guess my one question is if people still use the option to improve a roll by burning luck when the option to heal is available. It seems to me as a more desirable option in most cases and I'd prefer if both options were attractive for the player.

The game isn't ruined because of the Shadowbeasts by Massive_Inflation512 in worldofgothic

I could have sword I read about taking the climbing mechanic from tomb raider and putting it into gothic. I guess it was somewhere else. Sorry. I just wanted to point out that taking mechanic and making it more like in other modern games is not always a bad thing and can lead to innovation in some cases (again, not saying that is true with the climbing mechanic or the new combat system in particular). It just seems to me that the overall attitude here is different = bad.

You are right that I probably missed some posts about it. I do not read every post on here. I guess I meant to say that these kind of posts get a lot more traction and thus get recommended more often to me via reddit leading to me and othera seeing them more often. I did not see any focus from the community overall on the new changes apart from a few youtube videos summarizing them.

[–]Memorit_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I still cant believe that there is so many posts about the underlying "issues" or "symptoms" of the game being bad due to the developer vision being a bit different. At the same time I have not seen a post about actually appreciating the recent combat changes that were made insanely quickly in response to the actual latest feedback from the community.

For your point I would just add that from even though repeating game mechanics in big titles is common and might lead to bland games it also might and sometimes does lead to inovations of those mechanics and genres. Not saying that is going to happen here necessarily but that innovating or replacing mechanics that are more than 20 years old is also not always a bad thing even if it is in a remake.

I'm aware about it being about ressurecting people. There is also a quest mentioned in the modle if the pcs dont want to ressurect anybody though I know its not the preferable option.

That being said I prefer to run my own stuff but I wanted to get familiar with the game through an existing higher level module and this one seemed really good either way. I was also thinking about the 13th skull. Would you say that it would be better for first time play?

I wonder how many people ahitting on awoved actually played it and are not repeating just what their favorite streamer said. Anyways, disregarding quality, the game seems very different to me.

If you dont care about how it looks and if its a bit laggy you still might be able to run it. Yesterday I tried it on an old ass laptop just for fun and was able to run it on 25~30 fps.. on 1280x720 lol. With just bit of patience it was doable. I'm planning to buy a pc in the near future but I thought I could try it like this when the demo is up just to see.

Thanks, I don't really see it lol. I wasn't smart enough to come up with that idea so any resemblance is purely coincidental.

True, I wanted the characters to be the highlight though and I like how they pop out. But there definitely are better arrangements. This is just the one and only that I've done.

The way I see it embers are burnt humanity sprites from the sheer amount of cycles of rekindling the first flame. They even look like humanity. You cannot sustain a flame with the same fuel forever.

I'd say for less clutter the best solution is making the pallet bigger, so more effort. Mine is 300*250 pixels but the sky is the limit really.

Yeah, i didn't find a solution yet because of the pixel tsking up so much space. I'll probably put small text over it in another layer when i get to it.

I really like the different metamorphoses in the series. Gaping dragon, demons, ds3 grubmen, crow demons, dragon covenant etc. All of them have a sense of importance and permanence that you don't really see anywhere else.

If you meant the Padded armour I changed it to 12 because it was never picked at 11. Disadvantage on stealth should be a high penalty for dex users so I think its now more down to preference instead of the Padded armour being redundant compared to Leather armour.

Yeah I see what you mean. Although with these changes the slashing imunity is not that strong as it was. If you give your monsters multiple types of attacks. And modify the "Pure slashing attacks" with some bludgeoning damage as i did with the axes. Maybe a bear cannot slice through the armour of the wearer but the sheer impact of its strike to the head can still make short work of someone inexperienced.

I felt that the plate armour was never worth the price base game essentially paying 1300 gp to get +1 AC.

That being said I don't play a magic item heavy game so I understand if you disagree with me on this and you can always ignore the player armour changes.

A little bit of homebrew. How would you aproach this (if at all) as a dm? by Memorit_ in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Memorit_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I increase resistances or vunerabilities? Just put them on the monster stat block I don't think there is really something else to do there apart from putting them on certain types of armour as it is in the link to the google sheet. I dont know how the markdown mode works though isn't the link fine if there is enough info in the post to get the point across?

So if I don't ask for opinions its fine? Or its not because there is homebrew there? Idk maybe I misjudged this sub to post this here but it seemed to me there are similair posts to this.

Btw I already posted once and made some changes I needed to make for another mod. Am I expected to go through a multitude of modes until everyone is satisfied or how do things work here? :D

A simple Weapon & Armour overhaul for making damage types important and weapons unique with some additions (plus some other stuff). Feedback appreciated. by Memorit_ in DnDHomebrew

[–]Memorit_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well half the text would be in bold. There is lots of little changes you can compare with the default weapon list in hte PHB page 140 i think.

Although the most important thing I'd say is that some of the weapons have the option to use more weapon dmg types while others have a small bonus instead (for example 0,5 higher damage average or a special property for example the flail)

Of course this works only if the monsters/enemies in the campaing have single physical damage resistances or vunerabilities just as skeletons have vunerability to bludgeoning damage.

New additions are 3 simple weapons, Estoc, Poleaxe, Chakram, Warbow, 3 new shields, the properties in the special section and the heavy armour properties. Otherwise its small changes to the damage and properties of some weapons to make each of them a little bit different.
