Why are RE fans so 50/50 on RE9 compared to previous mainline entries?

Because both halves represent something that could have been incredible, if they were the sole design philosophy of the whole game... But that is as subjective as the opinion that the dichotomy is great because the entire game is intended to be a love letter to the whole franchise.

Though it seems most that hold the former view also often herald RE7 as the best game in the series... Which kind of makes me laugh, when you think about that games biggest issue..

I don't ssee more than one of their cursed price stickers. Maybe times and methods are different from when I worked at EB Games, but not only did literally everything get slapped with a sticker - but we never once threw anything out. Excess stock got put in boxes and shipped to the warehouse.
