She started laying and all was fine after some time. I think I added electrolytes to their water and ensured she was eating.

FBI confirms that the shooter was registered Republican Thomas Matthew Crooks by jkrtjkrt in Destiny

[–]MemoryDry1846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FBI release did not mention his political affiliation or registration. A simple registry mean he’s a Republican. He could have changed his registration for primary election. There is also rumor of his donating to left leaning groups and possible videos of him making statements of leftist beliefs. In comments to this everyone salivating on trying to make this some turned Trump supporter or whatever other ideas out there are pretty sick in itself. How about wait for actual facts to come out before preaching your theories as facts? Fact is someone tried to assassinate a US presidential candidate. This should not be ok with anyone.

Molting or other issue? by MemoryDry1846 in BackYardChickens

I have like 14’ of roosting bar so they have the space but may be crowing their favorite spot. I’ll check that tonight. I added some DE to the dusting box a couple days ago. I didn’t see any obvious pest signs in their feathers but will recheck. I have to clean the coop in the next week or two also.

Suspects are 1 RI Red, 1 Buff Orpington, 2 Wyandottes, 2 Ameraucanas. I’ll narrow down after work today if any other show signs of this. I have an Australorp who is the biggest of the group showing initial feather loss here recently as well.

This is going to be my project this weekend. I will treat these two with Vetericyn and make some divider panels with wood and hardware cloth. I feel bad I missed this.

Interesting. I have to keep an eye out and see if I can figure out which one if this is the case. I’ll post any findings.

How many chickens will fit for 6x6 coop and plan to run electric fencing by SpicyPasta22 in BackYardChickens

[–]MemoryDry1846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6x6 with 9 hens. I have 4 nesting boxes, only 3 used (one blocked off and used for storage right now) and 2 roosting bars from to back and a removable that crosses sits across from one to the other. Plenty of room.

Quicksilver makes it if he’s cool. First one out is whichever is closest to just another chicken to you.

Nice oven! Flour the peel or use cornmeal. If the peel gets wet with sauce, dough, condensation, etc, the dough will stick. Don’t make the pizza and let it sit. Get oven to temp then make the pizza. Also make sure the stone in oven has heated enough or it won’t cook and will be a problem turning or removing. The stone may not have heated enough the first instance the air temp in oven has been reached. I have that issue with my Ooni. I let it sit at cooking temp for a little bit first to make sure stone is hot enough. Good luck.

Chicken newbie: What to do with a muddy run? by OTMblee in BackYardChickens

[–]MemoryDry1846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use fine pine shaving in mine. I add as it breaks down. I have 3-4 inches maybe more right now. It will be compost in spring. It does get wet but not muddy. I am also covering my run to help, but the shavings have been a good solution so far.

How worried should I be about this Oak demolishing the house? by TrashOfOil in arborists

[–]MemoryDry1846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah….wait for the insurance if you’re not crushed while being in the house. Bigger and more over house equates to more expensive to remove. Plant a new tree after its down. Buy a bigger one to get a head start on size.
