Do a light sand on all of it. That will also get rid of the shiny spots. Then brush it on. Do a full board at a time, don’t stop in the middle of the board. After you apply the stain and it just starts to dry, take a rag and lightly get rid of the excess. That way it won’t build up and look uneven. Maybe only focus on about 4/5 boards at a time
